I live in great cornard It’s not a good sight.

It’s just at the back of me. Truck driver arrested. It’s documented what has happened so I’m not going to elaborate.
Needless to say it’s not good.

is this the crossing it happened at?

About 20 miles away from me. News says the driver didn’t phone in. I don’t see why the gate couldn’t link to the signbox, if the gate is opened the signal box is informed. Though I do think these ‘gates’ should be automatic barriers as I would have thought the sewage farm has quite a bit of traffic.

no just the truck driver.

The truck driver is Eastern European.

If it had been an RTA involving two road vehicles, both drivers would have been arrested.

And just why would the train driver be arrested? For being where he should be, at the time he should be, doing the speed he should, all under control of the section signalman??

Presumably there is no suspicion that the train driver has committed any offence, and it would be hard to imagine a scenario whereby it could have been his fault unless he had passed a signal at danger.

all the heavy stuff parked up near my house last night. allelys and ainscough on the job. mind the driver did go home ■■■■■■■■■ from what im told

It could well be relevant that the driver was a non-native English speaker if the accident happened because the driver could not understand the instructions relating to using the crossing and had failed to phone the signalman as required. It would not make it his fault, per se, and the Railway Inspectorate do not generally simply try to find someone on whom to pin the blame for accidents but take what action is required to prevent a recurrence in the future and it may be that the instructions need to be simplified or displayed as pictograms etc

I don’t disagree, Harry, but the way it was written suggests that ALL Eastern European drivers are thick as [zb] and why is anyone surprised, etc. Considering the amount of bridge strikes from British drivers, I don’t think being unable to read signs is only an Eastern European problem, and so could’ve easily happened to one of our own. :bulb:

I understood it perfectly well. You seem to be the one with the comprehension problem as you ignored the part of your post I highlighted, which was what I was responding to. I ask once again, where do you get the idea that I “passionately care about” Eastern European’s or did you just jump to that conclusion because it suited your sweeping statement?
