Yep ! and ? … I was a Tesco driver and proud of it, high pay and no need to speed.
Job being ruined by Stobbarts and other cut throat companies.
So let me get this straight. Countless posts in here about how crap the job supposedly is because drivers are forced to go everywhere with their foot to the floor and do max hours to scrape a megre existence.
Then here are some drivers who earn decent money with no need to speed and enough time to dawdle if they wish and do nowhere near max hours and it’s still wrong?
Strange.
I live within 3 miles of tesco/stobarts widnes. I have never been done over by them, but its just a place I choose not to work.
edit. If you were to scrape a bumper then thats you on the black list, (is that racist) ■■?
The job itself is not bad, but when you need to translate the meaning “where you want the trolleys” then its going wrong,

I don’t understand this, what’s wrong with claiming overtime ? They are limited to 50, wearing hi vis whilst driving is a little strange admittedly and don’t know what you mean by hate Eddie
NTSA!
i work for stobarts tesco own 49% of stobarts and were forever helping the tesco side out as in tescos own not stobart tesco side as they cant keep up with deliveries nor collections of rsu as the excuse seems to be been waiting more than a minute i cant collect it. my experience of tesco drivers is there above there station think there something there not and better than everyone else and an attitude problem. there drivers like the rest if us no need to be that way at all.

No they don’t.
" Brothers-in-law Andrew Tinkler and William Stobart hold 8.18% and 3.77% respectively of the Stobart Group as of May 2011. Allan Jenkinson holds 4.9% of the company, the Irlam family hold 2.88% of the company and Steve O’Connor holds a further just under 3% of the company as of May 2011. The largest overall shareholder is now the investment management company Invesco who now holds 36.51% of the Stobart Group as of May 2011." (Source. Wikipedia)

That is the institutions/companies that hold over 3% of Tesco’s shares…strange no mention of WA Holdings, who you claim own Tesco. Yes Stobart bought out Irlam and O’Conor that why they have shares in Stobart, they took shares as part payment for their companies.
Still never let the facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory or drivers BS.
Again funny no mention of the mysterious WA Holdings.
If I got made redundant from my current job tesco would be first port of call, I like a easy life you see

In short yes.
When I worked for the NHS the hospital HR department kept a ‘black list’ of locum doctors who they didn’t want to employ again. It was stored on a computer in a file headed ‘Black List.’ A Nigerian doctor took them to a tribunal because it turned out (no surprise) that most of the people on the list were coloured. The reason they were there was usually because there had been concerns that their English was poor.
He won his case.

Is not strange if you go with one side of your Lorry past the Weighbridge, but is if you report back as an Axle is overloaded,or at a Store with Cars parked and Store Staff asking you to unload in Bus stop,Zigzag line or Zebra Crossing, and also if you write too often Vehicle VOR you are quickly short with work and Hour.
Most anti Tesco posts are by those who are basically jealous of drivers who make a fair wage and can take their time and I don’t mean the Stobbart drivers who haul Tesco, I mean Tesco full time employed drivers. Before I drove for them I was just as bad, poking fun at them crawling along and being so smart in their red blazers, white shirts and ties, then one day I got a full time job there and everything reversed, it was then e crawling along with my red blazer, white shirt and tie poking fun at the rest of the downtrodden drivers in the world.

I get similar from other tipper drivers for “crawling” at 40 and 50mph; Some of which are colleagues (Altitude knows who I’m referring to ) I just accept them as jealous that I don’t need to fit the mould of “typical tipper driver”…
I will say though that the ex Tesco agency drivers we had about 11 years ago were better off pushing trolleys instead of driving on landfills
I don’t know a lot about the Tesco driving job but I reckon the difference is that most driving work is as it is, ie crap basic pay, “overtime” at time+£1 , minimum time to do the job (as in go go go), cynical employers, and driving tired. Where as Tesco is as it should be, ie. realistic basic, “proper” overtime at time+half, ample time to do the job, (as in driving to legal limits no risk of points) and fair employers, I know which I would prefer.

Well of course it is, because it’s own account haulage where making a profit is left to the stores instead of the vehicle fleet. If Tesco had to make a profit out of it you can bet your sweet life they wouldn’t run at 40 on single A roads!
