Well the Scania I saw today didn’t have the extra reflective stuff that is required in Eire and apart from the Walton name on the front of the unit and on the side of the trailer it was a Thorburn outfit. Maybe Walton Transport have bought some of Thorburns tractor units and are running in the livery that looks ok. Wasn’t haven’t have a go at them, I’ve always thought that Thorburns had a great looking fleet and did a good job, would have liked to have done something for them myself but container work was much easier for me at the time.
Over here we usually take the skirts off then let them stick the truck marking on the tanks, just put the skirt back on then and its hidden.
I doubt very much that Waltons buy any second hand trucks even a Thorburn Scania Dave.
I saw a Thorburn unit and trailer on weds or thurs morning in Sainburys Langlands RDC in East Kilbride.
Plain white Scania with Thorburn in bold black letters on the front. The trailer was plain white with Thorburns similar font along it and a kinda logo of a phoenix rising out the ashes at the rear of the trailer.
whatever crap beverly bell comes up with against thorburn.
that 143 is a credit to their maintainance.
p reg…is that 95, and look how well is looks in the pictures.
the best truck ever made in my opinion.

I have too agree with you there Greg…that 143 is a stunning example and a credit to thorburn’s…
Hi ellies dad,
I take your point about putting the extra reflective stuff on the tanks and then putting the skirts back on, but the picture you posted of the Walton Transport Mercedes has the extra reflective on the skirts?
The black Scania & white Reefer outfit I saw had all the usual Thorburn white pinstriping and as I put the post up before I had seen the pics of the Irish Walton Tranport Merc , it seemed to make some sense to me with Walton being a very well known area of Liverpool and possibly something that the Thorburns were using in an ironic way to rub it in because they had avoided going to visit that area of Liverpool
I had no knowledge of a company from Eire called Walton Transport before I started this post, and saw the pics of the Merc, granted the livery’s are similar but unless Walton are running a Topline Scania with what is well known as theThorburns colours and I can say It was a current or ex. Thorburns Unit.
I am open to be shot down in flames but as I had been at the Scammell Gathering at Ackworth Nr Pontefract I might have some other drivers/truckers/enthusiasts/spotters who just might be able to confirm this sighting.

fallmonk your avator is very distracting, (where did you get it )…
Sorry mate not sure where i got it but feel free to “borrow” it !!!
I didnt know ther was a uk Walton Transport-different company same colours, whats the chances
Hi ellies dad,
The reefer was definetly a ‘Walton’ transport trailer but the tractor unit was or looked like a ‘Thorburn’ unit. Maybe we need to keep an eye out for the mixed outfits
All the best my friend
Dave Penn;
Theres no link between the 2, I assure you except very similar livery and both smart outfits!

Yes they are still running, one passed me on the Wrexham Bypass last week, 143 Scania - nicely presented and sounded very good at full chat.
