And as for Thorburns who cares if you dont want to work for them dont simple really
i couldn’t agree with dafman more, for all the people slagging off thorburns so called way of doing things, how many of them currently work there??if you do and can tell us exactly what you do then fine if not i’d suggest keeping your mouths shut because all your’e doing is guessing how they work… and like dafman says nobody is forcing you to work there, talk about muppets you people sicken me in your ivory towers!!!
fallmonk your avator is very distracting, (where did you get it )…
i still see there motors
yes,i still see trailers of thiers and units in the colours but no sign writing and white units sometimes, which is a shame as the sign writing and detailing was always good looking and traditional…but not as many as i used to see…maybe they contract out? maybe they are still going…sorry for any confusion if they are.
were they the ones from leyland in lancashire?
i believe so…they had workshops as well.

i thought so. i used to watch them as a kid (i grew up in leyland) and i used to get excited when we were travelling on the motorway when i saw one of them because they were from ‘home’
After travelling on the Runcorn Expressway yesturday I was behind a old Thorburn Fridge then at the end at he roundabout M56 there was a 143 450 going towards the bridge all painted up Thorburn splattered down the fridge and motor
So are they still running?

Yes they are still running, one passed me on the Wrexham Bypass last week, 143 Scania - nicely presented and sounded very good at full chat.
see the topic i started earlier re- the red lion.
i was 3 hours away and not sleepy whatsoever.i parked up as i had done near 10 hrs and look what happened.
i should have kept going and got the trailer in the dock.
without a torn sheet and goods missing.
law my ■■■■.
the thieves are away,i would carry the offence on my digicrd for another year if i drove over.
i would have had 13 hrs on my card, and home a lot sooner as well.
This one was parked up on the Wrexham Ind Est yesterday
What a beautiful truck
This is nicer, and its not a Scania

this is not the place to say it.#this is the world wide net and talk is cheap.

Is there any pics of their 143 450[/code]

Saw a Thorburn/Walton Transport liveried Scania heading east on M62 this afternoon at around 1515hrs probably heading for the Hull ferry? It was around that bit of the M62 that is owned by Wal Mart/ASDA and all the other small retail & warehouseing companies that don’t have any control over the price of our food!
Sorry I couldn’t take a photo of it as I was on the phone at the time, rolling a ciggie, eating a McJocky’s and try to do a word search. I’m sick to death of multi-tasking, I always end up missing some good pics!!!
Well I for one would be a subbie for Thorburns. If they’d have me…
can i just ask what have waltons from ireland got to do with thorburns from liverpool or av i missed somthing
Well the Scania I saw today didn’t have the extra reflective stuff that is required in Eire and apart from the Walton name on the front of the unit and on the side of the trailer it was a Thorburn outfit. Maybe Walton Transport have bought some of Thorburns tractor units and are running in the livery that looks ok. Wasn’t haven’t have a go at them, I’ve always thought that Thorburns had a great looking fleet and did a good job, would have liked to have done something for them myself but container work was much easier for me at the time.
This the Scania someone was after pics of?
