Sorry for one of my first posts being a “want” but does anybody remember Simms based in Ossett west yorkshire, based just off healy road, and have any pics? I grew up with the firm due to my dad working there but have lost all my pics I had. I hope to find some and see what stories folk have…
Oh my name is damion and passed my class 2 5 week ago and started my first driving job on tarmac tippers yesterday
hi i remember thos simms i nearly got a job with them in 1988 they ran erfs and a volvo tanker. ithink a lot of their work was for fsw at the bottom of healy road smart looking motors think it was richard simms who ran it did not know what happened to them though as i moved away, although i think one of their trucks ran for nisa out of barnsley when i was with hodgsons till it all moved to scunthorpe.
Hey, they where plodding along nicely until a few years ago when Richard sadly passed away from an heart attack, they did indeed run ERFs and a few DAFs in later years, by the time I was around the place they mainly dealt with flat beds doing either blocks/bricks along with machinery and train bogeyies on the artics and alsorts on the flat beds
There were two transport firms in Ossett called Simms, I THINK they were brothers who went their separate ways. I knew few of their drivers, one of the long serving drivers down Healy Lane was a fella who worked with me at Fred Chappells Batley, he lived in Ossett so he moved to Tom Simms… and I can’t remember his name, It was a lot of years ago
