This is what I have to put up with

This morning was a particularly heavy time at Yonkers as far as preloading trailers goes. They sent some newish guy to help me as I started at 5.00 am and had to load 3 then my own for delivery Sunday at 11.00pm up the road at Ben & Jerry’s. This guy, as is the case with most of the locals is useless at reversing, but he is especially dumb. A few weeks ago he was preloading and I noticed he was using brand new trailers for loads that would be hauled by outside drivers so we would get piles of junk in return, I told him to use the new ones only for loads like Ben & Jerry and other north east customers so they stay in our fleet. “How do I tell the age ?” he asked.
“Simple, the second and third numbers are the year, the trailer you are loading 312053 is a 2012 trailer, use 97, 98, 99 or at least the oldest”
“Ok” said the guy then shows up an hour later to load Molasses for Chicago on another 2012 trailer. Molasses ruins pumps on trailers and they are mostly useless for our job, besides which sending it to Chicago means we would not get it back. When I confronted him he said “I didn’t know”
“But I just f*****g told you”
Today he excelled himself by loading a trailer and when I went to the yard I find it sticking out by 9/10th of the trailer, just as the boss of the refinery was walking around, as I drove to the tank wash with my next trailer I get a call from the big man asking me to move two trailers, that one in particular. I asked the guy why he dropped it like that and told him about the complaint “It didn’t look if it would fit in the space”
“Then why didn’t you fidn another space” I asked, I then moved it for him with the big boss watching, he came ruching over to say sorry but it didn’t go down well with the man.

You will also notice it’s a 2012 trailer he used

Is that partly because a lot of Yanks have the same attitude as a lot of Brits- ‘I’m alright Jack, ‘F’ the rest’

This is a usual day in our trailer bay if you get back late-

I had to squeeze mine in here-

Couple of good Yankee Doodle Dandy Promotional films are
1, One flew over the Cuckoos Nest.
2, Dumb & Dumber.

Nice shiney trailers though, Pat !

Tight fit for you then.
Those are not ‘shiney’ this is ‘Shiney’, it was taken over a year ago as I unloaded at Ocean Spray cranberries… just by pure coincidence, I have the same trailer hooked to me outside right now, out of 2000 trailers thats quite an event.

That definitely is Shiney. :sunglasses:

Do you have ‘Special People’ (like Polish people) who make it all nice & Shiney or do you have to spend hours with the Autoglym

Just put them through the truckwash…
We do have some ‘Polish’ people… by that I mean people from Poland

I am in mo way a racist, in fact most of the best friends and co-workers I have here are either Afro American or Hispanic but … Most of the damage or poor judgement is done by Puerto Ricans in our yard, the bad one’s don’t seem to care how much damage they do.

There are thousands of accidents where cars, cyclists and other vehicles have gone under trailers and quite frankly I am shocked by the fact that vehicles here don’t need them ? they don’t need the wheels covered either. The older ‘Polar’ tankers are higher and have an even greater clearance to drive under.
