I don’t know how the phone was stolen. Does it matter?

I would say it matters that you’ve got people plastering this blokes picture all over the Internet branded as a thief without any apparent proof other than the say so of a friend.

I’m not saying there is anything wrong here, but if it was me I would have at-least satisfied myself that the phone had been stolen rather than lost or misplaced before posting pictures of someone and accusing him of stealing it, and yet you haven’t even bothered to ask about the circumstances of how the phone came to be missing.

It just seems odd to me … but maybe it’s just me who knows.

He’s got a good point , we’ve been on here a couple of days now with this thread , we are all guna look a bit stupid if it turn out he has just found it and was just trying to return it to its owner… But on that if he has half inched it get that face on crime watch!!!

I’ve removed several off topic and offensive posts from this thread (and some posts that quoted them)

If these posts continue the people posting them will find their posting rights may not be the same as they are now .

Gotta be a flip flop wearer as no self respecting Brit would ever drive a Magnum!! :open_mouth:  follow the oil slick and it will lead you to his layer!!

Had this been solved? Think I recognise him.

seriously dont know what came into my head chaversdad but you are a stereotypical knob and as an honest scouser I find your comment despicable .Having raised myself above the parapet I shall retire before all of the anti liverpool rants start

Look, I’m sure it’s only banter, it’s like saying all people from Norfolk all have six fingers or that all Welsh people have ■■■ with sheep or that all Scottish people are mean, nobody actually seriously thinks that, it is just humour. If you ever go to Australia the natives will constantly remind you that Poms hide their money under the soap.

I wouldn’t bring too much distress on yourself over it.

The North-east is very complicated, I can never tell if someone is a Geordie, a Makkem, a Sand Dancer or a Monkey Hanger and I worry about getting it wrong.

Here is an update from Duncan off his Facebook page.
Duncan Paylor
Hi guys, sorry I’ve not been posting many updates. But I have had limited chances to get online.
I have still got no word from the police regarding the case, they do seem confident of a positive outcome though. I have passed a fair bit of information over to them that has been given to me on here. If anyone has anything that could be of interest private message me, I will not make anything public.
As of this morning the original post had reached 157,000 shares, which is completely mindblowing.
Sorry if you’ve messaged me and I haven’t replied, I’m snowed under with them. To answer the most common questions:
the app is called @lookout, I use the premium version on android. I’m sorry but I don’t know anything about the iPhone or Windows phone versions. I’d recommend contacting the developer with any questions you might have. And no, I don’t work for them, this isn’t a publicity stunt. In my opinion, its a cracking app and will be the first download on any new device I get.
I never expected this to go very far, never mind hitting national news websites, and globally on the net. I’ve even been told its hit some TV news! Thanks to you all.
when I have any news, I’ll make sure to post an update.

Do you know this man? My stolen phone took a picture of him

I.d still like to know how it was stolen, seems to be making far to much of an issue about how good the security software is for my liking

I totally agree and believe that the post ought to have been removed as we have no proof that this person actually stole the phone other than a post from the OP saying MMTM.

I have an idea.

If I leave my iPhone lying about…

Someone picks it up…

It takes a photo of that person and I plaster it all over the internet…

I mention the software on it that took the pic… and the fact the premium (paid for) version is sooo good!

Best advertising campaign ever to promote the app that took the pic… For the cost of an iPhone it gets thousands of pounds worth of publicity, all over the internet…

If I was so minded the above could be quite an interesting way to advertise very cheaply couldn’t it? Thousands of people all reading about this amazing app? Could I be on to a winner?

The above is just a pipe dream however and cannot be true. Because I don’t know how to develop an iPhone app, nor do I own an iPhone.

What’s the app called lol

Seems a lot of fuss just for a stolen phone. I had thousands of pounds worth of guitars nicked a few years ago: I claimed the insurance and that was the end of it.

I think it’s the “human v. technology” element, an (alleged) thief being trapped by the very object he has “allegedly” stolen. If the person suggested is the actual thief then he is none too bright as he even posted the photo to his own Facebook page.

Ah, that’s because you didn’t get the full weight of guitarnetuk behind you.
