They drive amongst us

I was on the Warrego Highway today,in a 100kph, two lane, uphill section. The hill is not long, but short and steep. Crawling up the hill, at about 20kph, was an obviously heavy oversize truck. The oversize was between 3.5 and 4.0 metres wide travelling with the nearside wheels on the shoulder and the right wheels on but not over the lane marking line. The right hand lane is 3.5 metres wide with 1.5 metres of sealed shoulder. Traffic was slow, but overtaking the oversize, I watched an A double pass, followed by a three axle coach, a small Toyota Camry then me. The Camry driver, in front of me, hesitated refusing to pass the oversize.
FFS! A 2.5 metre wide coach got through directly in front of you and you doubt the gap is wide enough for a small car! With no spacial awareness, how do these turkeys get or keep a licence?

The situation is bad enough as you describe it but obviously no forward planning either otherwise they would of tucked themselves in behind the over sized vehicle if they didnt think they could get through

I would but most car drivers can’t seem to see beyond 6’ in front of their bonnet.

I saw a youtube video from a driving instructor (not ashley) the other day. The guy said when coming up to a width restriction you should stop before proceeding and check you are in the middle by opening your door if needed.

What hope is there if people like that are teaching.

That’s because a lot of car drivers don’t look further than 6’ in front of their bonnet :frowning:
