The worst part of Class 2 Multidrop for a Newbie

Dipper_Dave:
Id love to try a bit of multidrop class 2 on the agency on one of my days off.
But I would employ my box jockey mentality… I.e. get to shop, park, open doors (if they are lucky) then say, here you go lads all yours just knock me door when your finished ill be having a kip.

Cant believe you guys unload for em.

This is why there is a “driver shortage” in this field. Driving in towns and cities is hassle enough with weight limits, delivery times, cameras etc so why have the hassle of being a shelf stacker/warehouseman on top of it?
These jobs would be okay if you tail lift the load off and drop it onto the ground, and from there on it’s the customers’ responsibility. No checking/counting/carrying upstairs and stacking in neat date rotated rows, you’re a driver. You’ve driven the goods to the premises, they’re off the lorry, job done. Trouble is there’s always some jobsworth idiot on your firm that will do all the above and probably close all doors and gates after him. But not me.

Don’t worry Lethal Bizzle or whatever your name is, when I first started, I got myself into a situation that took over two hours of maneuvering to get out of.

That was in an artic though, not just a big glorified van like the one you’ve been struggling with.

haaaaaaaa hahahahahahaha hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahahah mmmppppphhhhhh hhahahahahahahahahahahahahah +1

Right that’s all the lorry crap out the way, now down to the important stuff, full report on the totty spotting please… :smiling_imp: including denier worn exact shade heel height precise cup collars and cuffs matching etc etc…pervs us lot?, perish the thought…

If a Lady’s wearing a Mini Skirt & you get a ‘Near Flash of the Gash’ is that a Near Miss or a Near ■■■■■ ?

I believe a driver involved in a road traffic collision at this time would come under the classification “gash crash” on the police report.

Entertaining read!

For me a low point was yesterday, as when breaking hard, I forgot to restrain my freshly made large costa beverage, launching the ■■■■■■■ with some force all over my dash and paper work!

Had to continue on with no hot drink for refreshment! Unbelievable this job!!

oooo P&H, that’s a tough start! Least you’ll get plenty of reversing in.

Just wait till they send you to the Whitgift centre in Croydon! That will put some hairs on your chest!

Nice place, used to deliver to Sainsbury’s there a while back

Going there tomorrow, so happy that it’s getting torn down next year.

Is it ? Building a new one or what ?

They are going to build a new one that stretchs across the entire high street. Spoke to someone there today, he said that some have signed a 3 year lease which is odd considering that they will start clearing out in late 2016.

Would that be a 50/50 Blame or a 31/69 Blame ?

I’ve gone up in the world (for a few days :unamused:) As been driving this little puppy! :open_mouth:

Who in their right mind would trust me with a new wagon with just 37k on the clock! :open_mouth:

God know what half the controls do!
But I did like the “criticism sensor” that marks your average driving performance.
And I liked it even more when the score went up!

Thought you were on for Palmy ■■■■■■■ Evil?

Keep up the good work Evil, this truck looks a lot better
Is it manual or automatic, how many gears, just curious?

Only as cover.
I much preferred this, even if the addresses were sometimes in the middle of nowhere and impossible to find! :imp:

6 Speed Auto, with kickdown when you press hard that’s like a disappointing anticlimax!

But this Facny truck did cause me an issue at Chieveley services where the truck wouldn’t engage a gear, and I was stuck on the pump! :open_mouth:
Had to get advice from mechanic to ensure doors were closed, put foot on brake and keep it there. Then using the keyfob, lock and unlock the truck. Then cart the truck still with foot on brake. And hey presto, I could again select a gear in drive. Weird, but I’m sure I’m about to hear an expert opinion!

Only 6 speeds, are they enough. News cars have 7-8 speeds. Well EU trucking is gonna be “funny”, the last auto truck I drove was 12 speed and was a monster. I’ve been comparing US and EU truck, they are so different…

It was a bit weird actually, as I’ve driven both a 8 and 12 speed Iveco’s. And I found the 12 speed spending more time changing gear than actually driving. But I was also told you need this when doing W+D. The 8 speed seemed more reasonable without the drag, but this 6 speed didn’t lack any power, and I preferred the more constant drive with less changes. It also went well in comparison, maxed out at 57 and held a good speed on hills. So i liked it compared to the crap in that other pic!

But I did bottle it a bit it came to overtaking, as if a truck was holding a reasonable speed, I just sat there a good distance behind it!

EvilB, have you experienced the Asian shopkeeper guard of honour yet? Two or three will stand uniformly and watch you lug stuff about, shut doors on you and generally get in your way. They wont help you and if you do ask, they no understandy.

My advice is never look too interested in what you deliver, or you’ll be held up by people complaining about products, prices, asking advice, boring you with their experiences etc. If you ever do builders merchants this is particularly important as the minute you ask a homeowner “what are you doing?” you’ll get the full lowdown from problems with the council, neighbourhood watch members objecting, how much topsoil they’ll need etc.

Not yet, only delivered to one independent shop so far, and they were pacific asian and friendly. And I think in the most part you the driver set the tone of how the conversation will go. It won’t always go well, but then you can continue being chirpy to see if it annoys then!

I don’t think it would work in the situation you describe, as there is a deeper rooted issue going on there, and to a point you can’t blame then for making an ethnic white man dance for then. But I’m not going to let that get under my skin, I’ll just be extra extra chirpy and nice! :grimacing:

I wouldn’t dare go past discussing the weather, and that was what i tried to limit my conversation to, when Leigh Parks “village idiot” wandered up to me while we were delivering there!

I’ve seen mate, but i’m too bloody knackered myself to think of anything witty to say about it… :unamused:

No mate, just 13 & 18 ton.
To be honest, I would know one if I saw one!
