Many years ago, whilst on a night out, I was parked nose to nose with a paddy driver. He knocked on my door and gave me a leaflet. We chatted for half an hour or so, before he returned to his cab. He didn’t seem like a god botherer but when I glanced at the leaflet, it was some kind of religious preachy type thing.
I’m not a religious sort by any means, but I noticed on the back something called the truckers prayer, which was a modified version of the Lord’s Prayer. There was an F12 on the front of the leaflet, so it was aimed at truckers. Did anyone else ever receive one of these and can anyone remember the words to it?
The driver was in an Allinghams truck if I remember right.
I’ve no idea about the truckers prayer but it’s funny you should mention it, for I was accosted in Michaelwood services earlier by Jehovah’s Witnesses trying to flog me a Watch Tower.
Please God: Let me manouvre slowly and carefully when there is room
Let me stay away from places where there is no room to manouvre and grant me the wisdom to know the difference.
It’s funny how you can spot a Jehovah’s Witness a mile off with their distinctive choice of clothing, you’d have thought they’d have come up with a way of blending in now so that you didn’t know beforehand that you had to either a) not answer your front door or, b) run away if approached in public.
