I got my flight details to Calgary so the time has come to pack my bags for the start of a new life. I would like to thank Pat, flysheet, mickfly and the rest of you for all your help and advise. Hope to bump into some of you on my trips and I’ll post how I find it to anyone else thinnking of following me out :smiley: :smiley:

Good luck Taffy, from one Welsh man to another.
I immigrated to the States from Cardiff in 1991, seems a long time ago now.
My friend Robin ex Blackpool lives in the next street to me, and worked with a few H&R guys here in Florida before they went north Brit’s and Kiwi’s.
Canadian workers rights are better than those here in the U.S. I have a brother in law who lives in Edmonton and has settled in nicely.
Its a big move, just keep your chin up and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

To be honest what people don’t realise is a lot of States such as Florida where I live are right to work States. No labour contract of employment, which means you are only as good as the previous days work. You can be fired for no reason at all with little or no consequence to the employer, especially if you are white and English/ American English is your first language.
Any other colour or race and the EEOC will be all for you. If you are a legalised citizen or American forget it, you are on your own.
Try to take any action against employer, and they put bullcrap on your DAC report.
Go beat the crap out of offending terminal manager, they want to put you in jail ffs.

I will only work for hourly pay, no trip money or mileage with no layover pay etc, no way.
Yes it ■■■■■ down here, but it is what it is.
Most Americans don’t know no different, simple as that.
Remember they did win world war 2, or at least they tell me they did, and every other country is third world including our own once Great Britain.
Back in work tomorrow, home Friday.
