I have from time to time a power problem from the MAN 440 i have the unfortunate pleasure of driving , it doesn’t have any and never as had s8nce new and was main dealer serviced for the first 6 yearsGet the fuel filters changed if they haven’t been for a while.
Secondly, assuming its got the arsetronic gearbox, try driving it in manual mode for a few days keeping it in the 1000/1500 rev band and see if it improves, my now long gone 440 wouldn’t pull your hat off when i got back into it after others had been using auto when i was off shift, but after half an hour or so driven proper(ish) she’d be back on song.
Its got the 16 speed manual ZF with the comfort shift. The gear change isn`t the best but the engine is absolutely gutless , it pulls at low revs but is really slow. It was like this from new and never improved. The original driver who got it new hated it from day one. It has been serviced new from the main dealer who shall remain nameless but after 3 years they extended the R&M contract because the deal was exceptional and problems never got cured. Limp mode is a way of life with it ,it would go in for repairs and on one occasion it came back after two weeks off the road and went back into limp mode so was quickly returned. Warning lights are on all the time. Our company bought 3 8 wheelers 2 tippers and 1 hook loader and the 6x4 unit. All 2011 , the two tippers are now off road permanently both having new engines , i know the hook loader has also been nothing but trouble.
