The relentless march of Tesco

If it wasn’t going to be staffed largely by immigrants I might agree. It will be so I don’t! And it’s a plain lie to state it’s because British workers don’t want the jobs or don’t do the work as well. Who do you think did all these jobs until 5-6 years ago? And Tesco used the availability of cheap migrant labour to attack the terms and conditions of it’s existing workforce. My experience of migrant warehouse staff working for Tesco is that they aren’t doing the job as well as it used to be done.

What would you expect with the company history

Jacob Edward Kohen

He was born in Chatham in the Medway area of Kent, the son of an Avram Kohen, an immigrant Polish-Jewish tailor, and his first wife, Sime Zamremba.

He was married to Sarah (Cissie) Fox, daughter of an immigrant Russian-Jewish tailor: they had two daughters, Shirley and Irene, the former now Dame Shirley Porter.

Dame Shirley Porter, the corrupt Jewish politician who was caught rigging an election and manipulating the political system, has returned to London from her self-imposed exile in Israel.

Nicholas Lezard in The Guardian described her thus “She remains, by a considerable margin, the most corrupt British public figure in living memory, with the possible exception of Robert Maxwell.”

I prefer to shop at Morrisons :stuck_out_tongue:

Is it definatly a new Tesco being built in Crick ? we have all been wondering what it is being built, looks like a massive site, its behind the now closed garage thats near the now closed Halfway House pub

If it is Tesco i wonder if they will close Daventry Two, currently run by wincanton in the old Argos depot in daventry

Ive been working out of Dav 2 and it was them that told me. Looks like it will also have a rail link.

I worked as a driver for Tesco from Middlewich for quite a few years until Stobarts came in, took over and then shut the place down. :imp:

I wonder who will be running the RDC ■■? You can bet it won’t be Tesco !!!

It’s Tesco’s way of cutting cost. The staff at harlow are on stupid money. Drivers get 35k for 48 hrs a week, plus ot, pension, shares etc. They’re on well over 40 a year with a small amount of ot. The warehouse boys top 30k. They’ll shut harlow. Give the contract to stobart and tell the staff to transfer and lose 20k a year or do one. If you don’t belive me, I’m sure the lads from chepstow and middlewich will back me up.

100% spot on

every new depot opened by Tesco from now on will be a Stobart run transport office

Tesco get grants for building the depots for next to nothing and will get free rent for 3-5yrs

and ■■■■■ the wages of their workforce all at the same time .

WIN WIN situation for Tesco me thinks.

Are Stobarts in at Avonmouth yet ?

Stobarts are not running Avonmouth, it is a Tesco run site (rhymes with ■■■■■■■

I think the one being built at Crick is the new extension to our yard and i wouldnt be at all surprised if its not rail linked as well.

Rainham??,great! what a wonderful place to spend a week on day hire,NOT!!!.
Since ive been working in and out of Tesco stores i’ve been totally amazed at the way the staff are treated by Tesco, shocking springs too mind.

The new build at Crick Is part of a new expansion of multiple units at DIRFT, imaginatively titled, wait for it… DIRFT 2. I haven’t heard that Tesco has taken any of the proposed new units, I think it is a speculative build or they are keeping quiet about who will have them.
