THE PDU-UK "Q&A"

dieseldave:

Barrie Tozer:

Honked:
Just in case anyone tries to follow this scheme, you may be interested in the integrity of Barrie. His website says: We will not use your answers to pass on to third parties, then asks for your company name and says that it may be passed on to third parties. Your answers are treated in confidence yet the answers will be used in talks with… third parties.

He further says that all information will be used by his company and ne details will be used by third parties.

I trust that he is registered with the ICO and fully abides by the Data Protection Act, it is a very serious offence to misuse data.

Just another reason to be careful about where you leave your information.

False accusations posted on an open forum can have serious consequencies for the poster or the owner of said forum.
snapshot taken

I’m not seeing any accusations, false or otherwise.

Given that this is supposed to be Q&A, I’m not seeing a question either.

Here is a question though… has your website been misquoted, or can you explain?

To a neutral observer (me) it does seem contradictory, but if your website has been misquoted, we’ll take the post down.

I believe he has twisted the wording from the survey to make it read I divuldge all information but it clearly states what is to be used
http://www.pdu-uk.co.uk/parking.html

The offending line “He further says that all information will be used by his company and ne details will be used by third parties”

What is the agenda, strategy if you want of this PDU?
How is going to actually work?
What else had to be done besides paying membership fee for PDU to work?

Barrie, I will await his reply to ensure that’s where he took the information from, but it does seem that he has stretched the truth. If he cannot show it other than this do you want the posts/quotes removed or left?

No problem, leave it and thanks.

The last few comments seem nothing more than lies and inuendos to try and make me look bad and unfortunately people read them and then have doubt.

volvo2 with his post from a friend is all lies and just posted to make others believe it
Then this from Honked.

I respect you and Dave have intervened but sometimes the damage is done.

PS can we go bed now ,lol

OK .

Can I make this clear to everyone taking part in this discussion, I and the volunteer moderator team are not referee’s in this discussion, It is not our role to make judgements or award points :unamused: . Do not call on us to decide who is right or wrong. However this forum has rules and guidelines and those will be enforced. We have given a little slack to all sides due to the particular nature of this Q&A but dont push us too far. The team are making a huge effort in the moderating of this thread to remain neutral.

the people reading this forum will make their own judgements/decisions on what you post- if you post garbage then your argument will be judged on that alone.

Rikki-UK. First of all thanks for letting Barrie have his Q&A on your form. The thread is going round in circles with the same posters repeating the same questions over and over. Some got answers, some haven’t. But all seem to be only interested in being a smart arse. Is it not time to lock a few of these poster out of this thread and give others a chance?

Its is not our place to decide who can contribute or not, only ensure that the forum guidelines are followed by all. I am sure that any new contributions to the discussion will be welcomed by all sides and treated with civility and courtesy

Personally I think it is time to put this thread to bed and to continue doing that drivers do best, moaning about the job but not a lot else !!

Would be difficult to keep this going if Barrie gets locked out of this thread?

The only reason this is turning into a circular affair is the continued refusal of Barrie to answer the questions put to him.

There would be far less hostility towards him, and his PDU, if he just stopped being slippery and evasive…and just answered people’s questions.

He wants us to trust him to represent us, as a profession, yet has not demonstrated any of the traits that would engender that feeling.

Barries whole philosophy seems to be ‘Trust me, because I say you can…’

Well Mr Tozer, it doesn’t work like that…you earn people’s trust, it isn’t given blindly.

I have an extensive trade union background, having operated at national level for one of the most powerful unions in the country…so I would like to think that I have a reasonable grasp of what it takes to foster a spirit of unity and trust amongst a profession…and it may surprise you to know that being evasive and surly when asked questions, especially those related to finances, is not a good way to go.

I don’ t believe this thread. :open_mouth:
A guy comes on the forum to gain support and answer questions on a scheme alleged to improve conditions in our mess of an industry.
Some agree but most do not. A debate ensues, it then goes on to an argument, it starts from ridicule aimed at the o/p to insults, ok so far, that is what usually happens in this sort of thread.
But then it turns to personal based abuse, then to a kind of witchunt/bandwagon jumping excercise, culminating in a virtual character assasination. (and told by somebody who knows somebody else’s mate) :open_mouth: towards a guy, who just more or less wants drivers to get together to form a voice…that’s all remember. :bulb:
As I said in a previous post on this thread, …Drivers NEVER cease to amaze me. :unamused:

Rob there’s sooooo much that should be put on here but out of respect for Rikki and the site rules hasn’t been.
Just because the more vocal questioners don’t post regularly doesn’t mean they don’t read regularly.
When a subject of critical importance comes up then it’s time to post.
Mate, if you were watching a fellow driver about to hit something he couldn’t see, I’m sure you’re the kind of bloke who would jump down from the cab and stop him not smile and video it.
Well the loudest voices have been to this RDC many times and keep a weather eye out for that dodgy obsticle that the RDC know is there and catches unaware drivers out.
One day over a pint you’ll thank us

I agree with Barrie in what he is trying to do and thought in the beginning that this thread was going to be quite informative, however Barrie has brought a lot of the abuse and insults on himself by continually refusing to answer certain questions including one asked by you Rob, he even got you to repeat it and still no response.
Unfortunately the man has turned himself into a laughing stock.

Rikki if trucknet formed a “unity” and charged people £5 each could we get a like button on here?

It’s interesting that you take the line that you did in your reply mind you.

In all seriousness thou, absolutely agree with what DonutUK has written.
This thread would have been a heck of a lot shorter if Mr Tozer came on and answered questions straight on.

Yes this project is his “baby” so be proud of what you have achieved so far. If it has ten members then so be it, if it has ten thousand members again so be it. If the biggest “victory” so far is the letter so be it. How does the old age go? “From little acorns…” And all that!

Yes his previous schemes will be questioned and rightly so in my opinion. It’s important to understand why they failed to get going. Personally I think that is because of the lack of straight answers especially when it comes towards such things as money and legalities.

As said, this thread could have been a lot shorter with direct answers. Show people that you are being fully transparent and honest. Don’t dodge questions and “I’m ignoring” such and such.

I remember a thread on face ache in a group set up specifically for self employed where the same person from the PDU-UK were trying to drum up membership prior to the reduced joining cost and prior to the closing down speech. Now with his admission that he has no experience in self employed/LTD Nor owner driving how does he expect to fight on their behalf.

As said, this thread could have been a hell of a lot shorter if honest answers were given and let the chips fall where they may. Instead to a lot of members all that has been given is the usual “see website” or avoidance of some very very basic questions

TBF Barrie, volvo2’s “mate” doesn’t look to have come out of this too well, because you had a great answer and a phone number to back it up.

People often get all arsey when their allegedlys are taken down, but volvo2’s post proves beyond all doubt that the TN rule on the posting of rumours and gossip is spot-on.

:bulb: Once he’s made the phone call, volvo2 might wish to say something on behalf of his alleged “mate.”

Readers might then form an opinion on the rest of that post.

Rikki if trucknet formed a “unity” and charged people £5 each could we get a like button on here?

TruckNet UK is not a campaigning organisation, simply a forum for drivers to chat, It is a matter of policy that TruckNet UK will never charge drivers to use the forums, to quote the owners companies managing director, “not while I have a hole in my arse” - hope that clarifies that

Peter s,

Everybody has a chance to post to this topic, regardless of whether anybody else is locked out.

I’m not coming at this as a supporter of Barrie by any means.
I have already said that I agree with his scheme ONLY in principle, and that I am certainly not 100% behind him.

I just don’t get the disproportinal abuse and stick he is getting for what he is proposing.

Billy I get the helping the driver who was going to hit something analogy, but to use another one, if I saw a driver getting his head kicked in I would be the first to jump in and help him, not as a lot on here have done …help the guys kicking his head in.
