THE PDU-UK "Q&A"

The Sarge:

Barrie Tozer:
I try to answer, but there are five on here who will not do not want to listen.
Their one incentive to keep going on is to shut the PDU down.

Might add they have failed, there is enough support to move forward

So your free advertising campaign worked then? Well done Trucknet, what would you have done without us?

About 10 on here offering criticism does not mean the other 650,000 Drivers agree

Even though it is still good to talk to others on here

The PDU will not get involved in workplace disputes or problems. Well my workplace is out on the road at RDC’s and various other places. So one question what is the PDU going to address. It is not rocket science to be able to answer that and by the way I don’t care whether the PDU closes or stays open but so long as you are the organiser and I have seen here how you put people’s backs up with your lack of information lack of strategy lack of anything concrete it won’t get too far. You have appeared as a pompous man with an over inflated ego who has lost control here and have attacked people just for asking questions you don’t like yet say they don’t like answers That is hypocritical and I think we should close this topic for good. It takes a popular and able man to do whatyou suggest and you are neither of those As for Burnett he tolerated you and made the right noises but asked you too many bquestions you had no real answer too so back to your little surveys to please him He has no power in government he is only a trade union ceo get that In a while he will tell you to get your members yo join the union thats his bottom line keep at it hawking around for members but you won’t get many that is thr real bottom line but keep feeding your ego by doing this. You really have no idea about drivers considering you say you have been one for 30 years you don’t know how their minds work or how take criticism from drivers who may know more than you. I say it again you have not the skill nor the respct of drivers to move this forward which has accounted for all the past failures no doubt. Realise this and let it go before you burst a blood vessel.

Blimey guys im starting to feel sympathy for Barrie in all this.
Remember he is fighting his corner on his own, sure theres loads of previous im unaware of, im surprised the PDA lot havent turned up yet.

That said Barry if you want to become a leader of men (and the odd woman) remember there are lots of silent potentials viewing this thread, turning the other cheek from time to time will work better than trying to bite back imho.

Very doubtful
When the PDU changed from a Suscription to just a £5 to join, it was also clear it could not introduce a Benevolent Fund.

As such it still wanted to help Drivers so we offered the PDA free advertising on the website and if attracting any advertising then 20% of proceeds to the PDA

They rejected the offer.
First time I have known a charity reject money

I wonder how many new members he have from here since this thread started ?

Why have you called it the PDU-UK when the PDA-UK already exists and campaigns and is often a first port of call for the media/various interested parties? It looks a lot like you’ve named it very similarly in order to create confusion or to try and piggy back off their reputation.

They manage to do what you’re wanting to do on a donation basis so why the need for a subscription?

If you’re a non-profit then which of the following models are you following?

Community Groups and Voluntary Organisations

Unincorporated Association
Charitable Trust
Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
Charitable Company

Social Enterprises

Industrial and Provident Society (Co-operative)
Limited Company
Community Interest Company (CIC)
Partnership and Limited Liability Partnership
Development Trust and Social Firm

If you’re a charity then what is your registration number - after all you’d at least want to register as a charity to benefit from the free government money? If you’re a Limited Company then what is your registration number and why can’t we see your accounts given they have to be filed at Companies House?

If you’re not prepared to get involved in workplace disputes then what is your reason for existing?

To anyone who is interested in joining an organisation which truly has your best interests at heart and not only has already been campaigning officially for lorry drivers for well over a decade but has also been helping them financially via the Professional Drivers Foundation, please [edit: by Rikki] PM Conor (or myself) who I am sure will be happy to PM back the web address- to ensure he stays within our forum guidelines

Please get your facts right before insulting a person.

Mr Burnett is the CEO RHA not a union and got his job on merit after being the CEO of a very large logistic’s Company

Seeing as I know nothing more than I did before this charade of not answering questions asked I amoff to watch paint dry it is more interesting than this. My parting shot is this if PDU is so brilliant why do you have to hawk around for members. I know the answer to that because it is only a micky mouse group with no content bar the usual pie in the sky fleeting. Nobody with a grain of sense would join after seeing Mr Tozers behaviour here today It was abysmal in every thing he said

Well at least I got one answer. You are trying to generate more funds with your website advertising. I do hope you have a good accountant.

Other than the PDF of which we offered to support, please inform all reading on here what the PDA has actually achieved for lorry drivers?

Or is as with other unions talk but no action.

Actually don’t, the Q&A is about the PDU, present and past, not about 3rd party organisations who I suspect have no desire to be dragged into this.

He can’t tell us that, it’s a secret

Im sold on that site Conner mentioned :grimacing:

I asked you the same question. Still waiting for a detailed reply.

All websites, forums, forms and databases cost, so yes we would like to attract advertising as the PDU has no other income.
Of course income would be accountable

The PDA and PDF are reputable organisations. Fully transparent in their accountancy and affairs.
I can’t imagine why they wanted nothing to do with you :unamused:

So if income is accountable…are all the £5 subscriptions not income…therefore accountable

So why cant you show the accounts for them?

Or the £25 subscriptions that it was a while ago?
