Hello friends. Thought some may be interested in a close look at the new DAF XG+ I had a look around today. It’s really quite something. https://youtu.be/Odff6uMe2KE
DAF were always a great truck let down by electrical problems.
The cab was always a great place to live , a great bed and lockers you could lose a small child in .
I’m a Volvo person and always have been but my second choice would be a DAF. I’d like to see engine sizes above the current 530 - something that would compete with the 580 /620 /750 / 770 offerings of Scania and Volvo could be a game changer for them .

Thing is though that is basically manufacturers Willy waving Not much volume in them, and DAF are going on 3 decades as the top selling unit in the U.K. with the XF. So I don’t think more power will happen or actually needs to.
I was overtaken by a foreign plated one last week, it caught my eye as it approached as I initially couldn’t make out what marque it was. It appeared to be the mongrel child produced by a DAF and a new gen Scania coupling. I noticed it was mirror less too. Looked the part tbf and I’d certainly like to have a play in one.

IMHO, correct - were - not now, they lost the plot - quality, design, engines, transmissions etc all gone downhill
I used to be a big DAF fan, but, no longer with the later versions
I like that.
I’m in a CF at the moment though we do have XFs.
I’ve had no dramas with it electrically beyond battery failure (to be fair the company was warned to fit bigger batteries because we constantly power taillifts and DD floors - needless to say the advice wasn’t followed)

Then this one will bring you back. The interior quality is so good you’d have to compare it with luxury cars rather than other trucks. Once more are out this will turn a lot of previously exclusively Scania & Volvo mens heads.

I’m glad to hear that .
Cards on the table here - I’m driving a Volvo 540 at the moment and I love it . Due a change at some time next year . I’m really wanting another Volvo , but IF DAF have sorted the electrical issues out as much as I’d like a big 16 l Volvo I wouldn’t complain about a new DAF either .
I’ve videos coming during week with a look at the new Volvo FH and the Iveco S-Way coming. Fact is there isn’t a bad truck like there used to be anymore, they compared to past are simply varying shades of good but the DAF if reliability & fuel consumption lives up to looks in my opinion the DAF is on top.
Coming Midweek From Bob Beech about length.I think Daf may well loose some sales with this model due to the fact that it’s £138,000 ,2 yrs ago the unit Xf106 was £79,000 .
Now they are not far off the Scania price

Maybe if everything else was cheaper but all truck prices have gone through the roof. Plus it’s really hard to get new trucks delivered in a sensible time frame right now. 2 years isn’t very long ago but might as well be another century with how different everything is.
