The haulage group in administration

Sutton Coldfield-based family firm The Haulage Group has called in the administrators.

The company has appointed Edward M Avery-Gee, Daniel Richardson and Nick Brierley, of Manchester-based CG Recovery, as joint administrators

Based at Maybrook Business Park in Minworth, The Haulage Group employs around 15 staff and has operating licences for 70 trucks and 70 trailers.

Known as the Howell Group until December 2021, the company was founded in 1960. It specialises in general and contract haulage, as well as offering automotive haulage, pallet distribution and storage services.

The administration comes one year after The Haulage Group appeared in court alongside Turners (Soham), where they were fined a combined total of £2.2m after a depot manager was struck by a reversing HGV and killed.

Can’t say I have heard of either name or even seen them around but sad news for the people involved and hope they all find jobs soon.

It’s getting to be like Celebrity Snuff in the industry

Linkline at Wellingbrough and Kettering also in trouble. They have served notice that they are about to appoint the administrators.

They have a O licence for 100 lorries and 2 very large warehouses. They did grow very fast out of nothing but it still a shame for the drivers
