0Hi,Dave, Penderyn is a very nice Malt, IMO Its a nice as the Scotish ones, I hope this dosent get old Harry going , Ha Ha, Regards Larry.
Harry what did you think of some of my Malts collection, I got a couple of new ones in Elgin when I was visiting my Grandson who still based at Lossiemouth RAF, the shop where I got them has a fantastic selection,Regards Larry.

I believe mains electricity came a couple of years earlier. Until then we had used a Tilley lamp (remember those?) and a hurricane lamp if we left the fireside. A decent stock of paraffin and candles were essential.
Yes Casey we had a Tilley lamp also another paraffin lamp with a glass chimney. I have still got one of those which I bought about 40 years ago in case of power cuts. Also had a wireless with accumulator etc.
Cheers Dave.
We had Hurricane lamps during the war years we used to take them into the air raid shelter, My old granddad used to say allways keep the wick trimed because it stopped it smoking to much, Sometimes we sat there for 3 hours until the all clear siren went, Then back into the house into a warm bed that had the hot water bottles in, no electric blankets in those days, In fact he sometimes heated a brick up in the coal oven, Wrapped it in a piece of old blanket & popped that into the bed too, Regards Larry.

Hiya,
Yes Larry a truly nice selection your about the fourth person who has told me the
“Welsh one” is a very pleasant tipple I’ll have to get myself a bottle to sample but
I do have a nice little stock of other singles at the moment so I’m unlikely to run
out for a while, Larry the old saying a tipple a day keeps the doctor away rings so
very true and one a day is about my limit nowadays, Oh’ that should be apple
silly me.
thanks harry, long retired.
Harry ■■■■ the apple touch, Keep on the Malts, Even one a day cant be bad, I have a few before I retire to my bed most nights, Of course I do eat apples & oranges plus Grapes which are all supposed to be good for ones health, But the Malts puts the old icing on ones cake wouldn’t you agree, Take care my friend,Regards Larry.
Retired Old ■■■■:
So that’s what made you turn to the bottle, H!
Luckily, there was a decent supply of cider & home brew in our area, plus us youngsters had the weekly visit by the “Pop Man”.
Yep the weekly visit from the pop man you always saved the bottles to give him back as they were worth money back then same as the Newcastle Brown Ale bottles
Stewth…I’d long forgotten the pop man. Memories eh, where would we be without them? The bin men and the galvanised bins (they were strong lads to be ■■■■■■■ them things day in and out when alongside the house waste they were full of old ashes from the coal fires. WE had a fella come round every week with some sort of bicycle contraption…knife and scissor sharpening, he could put a razor edge on anything that need it. Every Friday teatime, fresh fruit and veg man came round with the horse and cart…i even remember his name…Tom Fawcett, and that’s nearly 70 years ago. My dad going out on Friday evening to play the piano in the local pub, no pay but he got his beer free so Friday being his ONLY night out it was a good deal.
happy days
Larry when I was up in Fort William beginning of the month I didn’t even get 1 bottle of malt but then I was on the train with my luggage & plaster on foot which is still on & non weight bering but not all lost as the Dragon is heading up that way soon so will bring me back a bottle or 3

I have to admit to consuming more than my share of apples. However, they are liquidised and fermented!

Me too Harry, I used to hate being loaded for Liverpool Docks, They were the laziest set of ■■■■■■■■ I ever come across, They used to sit & watch drivers off loading their load while playing cards & supping tea, they were probabley getting more pay than we were, It beats me as to why they got away with it for so long, But a least we are still here to talk about it Eh, Im just having a malt to calm me down, Regards Larry.
