I think he’s took up morris dancing.
Cheers Dave.

Hiya,
Dave, frightfully sorry old chap but the Morris dancing is a non starter I’ve only
got a Toyota I sold my last Morris to the scrapman years ago.
thanks harry, long retired.

You could always start a Japanese version of Morris dancing Harry. I won’t risk saying what you could call it.
You want to ask gah1950 about that Penderyn whisky Ang, it could be dangerous stuff.
Cheers Dave.

Hiya,
Dave if I ever ventured anywhere near a dance venue the ground would collapse
never have danced a step of any description and I don’t intend to start now, the
ladies dancing in the top shows I can live with but men dancing looks ridiculous
a load of bleedin’ fairies but I guess some people must enjoy it or they’d be out
of a job, and I guess they make a good living out of it.
thanks harry, long retired.

have you all gone dead nothing to read

animal:
Yep but some of us younger member have to keep working so you lot can enjoy yourself

Bought a welsh whisky last week had a taste of someone else’s mind just to check & this went down very nice thanks might just have to open my bottle now it is the Penderyn Legend

Weather wasn’t bad Dave, however the missus had a couple of falls which paralysed her legs for several days so we didn’t see much apart from four caravan walls! She fell again last night at home so it was handy having the Paramedics on speed dial, just have to wait until things get back to ‘normal’ which is still poor compared to an able bodied person as you know. :unamused:

Did go on the Falkirk Wheel though which was good.

Pete.

Hiya,
Have retired from caravanning, was finding it difficult getting it in and out
of my drive if there was no-one about to give me a push or pull when I was
hooking up to go places there not being sufficient room to initially hang it
onto the car, I was getting a bit long in the tooth for the handballing, I had
to almost give it away and it was ready to go not requiring anything other
than bedding to start the holidays everything was included including a new
microwave and a modern flat screen television and although it was a 95/96
model it was unmarked and didn’t look out of place parked amongst newer
models, the only caravan I would buy is a privately owned one never a new
one, the moment you hang a new van on the back of your car there’s £2000
down the Swanee and lets face it what mileage does an average caravan do
over the course of a year unless you use them every weekend and who can,
the mileage is very little on a privately bought one, in my opinion it is always
the best bet you can usually get the price down (try that with a dealer) no
way will you succeed.
thanks harry, long retired.

Never had a new caravan either Harry, just four oldish ones and one campervan plus a few tents! I spent many years on various caravan committee’s and associations but packed that in as it was too time consuming and expensive. We use ours a lot as I exhibit at vintage shows etc so probably have around four months of the year in the van. Ours is stored two miles away, no room at home for it, but its days maybe numbered as the mrs is struggling now. Will get my thinking cap on and sort an alternative out!

Hiya,
I’ll miss mine Pete, although only used a couple of times a year but as I said
it was getting harder to move about and we was only getting as far as York
and we can get a hotel package for what the site fees had become, just an
add to the secondhand as opposed to new, a near neighbour of mine bought
a brand new van used it once thinking his job was secure but unfortunately
he was made redundant tried to get the dealer to take it back he was going
to lose nearly two and a half grand in the course of a few weeks his Dad
came to the rescue and found him an interest free loan to tide him over so
he could pay the van off eight years later he still has it although it gets very
little use, he prefers to use his tent, I can’t understand that I hated putting
the awning up and if the missus hadn’t pestered it would have stayed in the
bag I used to use every trick in the book to avoid erecting the thing.
thanks harry, long retired.

i wouldn’t entertain a new caravan either harry , the prices are ridiculous . i bought a 2 year old model in 2012 and the second day out some foreign (ZB) drifted across the road and smashed the side up , he never stopped ( probably wasn’t insured for this country ) . on the bright side we got it patched up to finish the holiday and when the insurers wrote it off they paid a grand more than i bought it for . i have a 2002 hymer nova now with all the bells and whistles and is just what we need . 8 weeks a year i scotland and it stays o the drive until next year. i’m a proper lorry driver , i reverse mine straight up the drive ! cheers , dave

Hiya,
I have on the odd occasion been able to use traction to get mine into the
parking area, “myself also being a proper lorry driver” thanks for the
reminder “Riggers”, but the cul de sac is normally chocker by people who
can’t be bothered to use their drive or like most people they seem to have
two or more cars so the pavements on both sides are used for parking up
additional cars, or there is some tradesman working in the houses nearby.
thanks harry, long retired

Harry you live in a pudding bag street     get a bulldozer pulling your caravan, your neighbours will soon clear the way for you! :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Thank’s Dave. She fell on sunday night (third time in six days) and I had to get the Paramedics out at 1am to raise her, then she did the same last night and got trapped in the frame that she uses to rotate and support her. I dialled 999 but with the bad weather there was nobody available for two hours so I managed to extract her myself but her toes were bleeding badly. Anyway at 1.30am help arrived in the shape of a Community Paramedic, he then contacted control for assistance as he needed an air bag to lift her. The nearest ambulance was at Worksop, over an hour away, so we had to sit and wait! It finally arrived, and then went again as another emergency occoured in Matlock so they got diverted. Finally they landed at 2.30 and sorted her out. At present she is unable to bear any weight on her legs so she is stopping in bed for a while until movement returns which normally takes several days. Sorry for hijacking your thread Harry!

Lets hope the next government improve the NHS and Ambulance services Pete, so that people like your wife aren’t kept waiting for help.
Cheers Dave.

The Hospitals have been very good Dave to be fair, and we have an Ambulance Station just quarter of a mile from our house but they are usually too busy to attend so we get them coming from Chesterfield 11 miles away. However if they are out on call we have had them come from Mansfield or Burton on Trent. One had a slipping clutch so couldn’t get up our hill, another had no handbrake so also couldn’t use the hill, and a third ran out of diesel on route as neither crew member had a debit card with them! :unamused:

Pete.

Hi Pete,
Sounds as if they need some new ambulances up your way. Our county only has a few cottage hospitals, so patients have to cross the border to Hereford or Shrewsbury hospitals for operations or intensive care etc. Because of this, the waiting times for treatment or an operation are very long. A mate of mine waited 12 months for major heart surgery. I was at our local health board AGM a few months ago and it so happened that I ended up at the same table as our MP Roger Williams in a workshop session, he knows me from seeing me on several occasions from past issues which I’ve been involved with. I took the matter up with him, regarding the so called post code lottery of waiting times for patients in our area, he said it was the same throughout Wales, which I disagreed with. I told him other parts of Wales have big hospitals, and we are forgotten about.
He will want vote in May, and if I come across him canvassing I shall remind him of our previous conversation.
Soapbox parked up.
Cheers Dave.
