The Harry Gill Fan Club!

Hiya,
Only ever stayed in Brays the one night Fred, what a dump I
wouldn’t go there again I was in Alf’s Lonsdale Square I think
it was called the night Brays burned down best end to that
place it was nearly all Suttons day and night men who
stayed there, I still stayed at Alf’s when I moved up to the
North East and worked for Siddle C Cook but the last time I
was there he said that Bowker lads no longer stayed there
and hadn’t been doing so for a while.
thanks harry, long retired.

Hiya,
Hello “trunker08” no Brays was on Liverpool Road about half a mile
after turning off Holloway Road in Islington.

:open_mouth: Strewth, I remember Brays, ye gods, what a place…only once, it was more than enough. Whoever burnt it down did everybody a favour.

Hiya,
There was a lot of places in London supposed to be good, that
place at Silvertown the Transmotel that was another oncer as
far as I was concerned and the only reason I stayed there was
the Headlight magazine sang it’s praises and my time was up.

come on chaps , wakey wakey , this noble thread was languishing on page three . i hope there are no sick and injured in our ranks . i have a good excuse for being quiet recently as i’ve had mrs rigsby in hospital with all the extra duties that entails . she is home now so i can get back to normal ( whatever that is ) . the retired mr ■■■■ never had an inkling i was visiting his territory on a daily basis , so i skipped the border fees . never had time to repay the breakfast i owe him either . cheers , dave

Believe it or not Dave, I was just looking for this thread. Thanks for bumping before I got the chance.

but I am going to Rhyl for Easter, well the sun might shine and I can think
I’m in the Bahamas, and I’ll be seeing a great Grandson for the first time.

Hiya,
Dave, the seagulls in that area won’t bother me but there is an “old crow” that I don’t
particularly want to bump into, but my daughter who lives in a very beautiful part of
North Wales (Llysfaen) will be on the visiting list and it isn’t too far from Rhyl, I not
having the car, (travelling by coach) will maybe be able to scrounge a lift to visit so
long as she doesn’t come in her works motor she’s an HGV driver and drives the local
dustbin lorry.

Llysfaen is close to the jetty where they load the limestone onto ships, if I have got the right place Harry. A nice part of North Wales. We have a holiday booked at Llandudno later in the summer ( if we have a summer ), so will do a bit more sight seeing around North Wales. Did have a holiday near
Porthmadog about three years ago, but most of my trips along the North Wales coast have been day trips.
Cheers Dave.

Blackpool is still at the top of my places to go to.

Hiya,
D O M, usually have a couple of long weekends at Blackpool during the year, a coach
firm does a special deal and the terms are very favourable, and, like you still enjoy the
place always using the same hotel a couple of Blackpool’s a Scotland a surprise trip a
and a long weekend in London usually fulfils our holiday requirements nowadays, the
holiday insurance for anything further afield at my age is prohibitive costing nearly as
much as the holiday itself.

We both like Blackpool, had a couple of days there September. Got a week in Skegness and one in Llandudno this year.
Like to have a change of venue most years.
Cheers Dave.

Have a week booked for Fort William later in the year

Harry, If you have a National Holidays or Shearings where you live, look out for a hotel in Blackpool called Libertys on the Bay. It is a fantastic hotel.
It’s only a short walk from the Tower and the centre of town. It’s near North Pier.
