Larry; I wonder if our Volvo FEs could be “commandeered” for the effort in Afghanistan? Actually no as they struggle to cope in sand in this country

Austin recovery truck (in its day)

not much left now of the old austin breakdown in dove holes john . i forget how many years that has stood there now . it was a runner when it was parked up , and then the tin worm attacked and it has gradually eaten it away . when it was put there rose dale motors was across the road ,it must be over 30 years now . i am surprised jack gardner never took it for scrap . cheers , dave

Hi Dave I was having a closer look round it this time and sure enough the engine, gearbox and diff are still there but wouldn’t hold out much hope for them ever moving again:

Hiya i would’nt mind a £ note for every time i passed that going into peakstone for bricks. that was in the late 70’s,
i bet it has’nt moved since then.the chap with the garage across from the austin used to have a new mini pick up shell.
it stood upright on its tailgate in his garage leaning on the wall.i bet someone has a cab for that austin its just
finding it.

These two appeared in a yard near me, 1 is an old X reg 1628 roadtrain, the other is an old tug. When i get a spare hour or 2, i’ll unsheet them, and get some proper pics. But then that means i’ll have to sheet them back up… :unamused:
