The Cumbrian Tipper Operators Page

roadcommander2:
That Scania in Tendley Quarries is a nice looking wagon.
Do you have any other pics of their motors/hauliers?

Cheers
Mark

Hello roadcommander2
Not personally, but have a look on pages 1 & 2 of the ■■■■■■■■ Tipper Operators Page. They are extra smart lorries, but from what I’ve heard, they aren’t good to work for.
Kindest Regards

Whose is the DAF in the first picture? I often see them around Penrith, remind me of Jenkinsons/Dents but no signwriting on them.

Hello dew
The DAF in the first picture is owned by Bulmans Bulk Haulage from Penrith. They run a 35 strong fleet of DAF’s & Volvo’s, and work as a Jenkinsons subbie, but they don’t run any walking floors, only bulk tippers. They also own a Truck Stop in Penrith, known locally as Bulmans Truck Park (which is the base for many of Penriths haulage companies).
Hope this helps

Very helpful mate, thank you. As I said they always remind me of a Jenko’s by paint, yet I’ve never seen a sign written one.

This is just awesome

Hello EDDIE STOBART FAN
Yes it is. Edward had it when they moved to Carlisle, but, after the move to Carlisle, he scraped it because Tippers weren’t making the company money. So after about 1979, the fleet was all Curtainsiders.

I’ve not seen a Signwritten one yet, just seen quite a lot with the paintjob and the Jenko’s-esque green to the back of the trailer.

Also wondered how they manage running Wheelbarrow centre axles on tipper work, I would have thought they’d be useless!

I’m in Penrith most nights, just haven’t seen a fully written one yet. Sure they’ll be out there.

And I understand the tipper game well (Aggregate Haulage is our game), and it’s an industry where ground clearence and traction can be very important, those pram wheels look awful on both counts! Half a tonne or not, it’s no good if you can’t get anywhere!

started off with one truck fom lamplugh, then got bigger and bought aldby garage in cleatormoor, used to run tippers out of eskket quarry and tankers from there up to marchon, still has the garage but think he just has his pallet business there and rents other side out to a coach company, his son richard has a truck and does work for burridge if i remember right.
