When i pulled for Garnett the trailers were in good nick.He is a decent chap.Very fair i thought.The rates were good.

Ken Adams.Yorkshire lad who had his Foden stolen in the UK.A black cab.
Peter Stainbridge or Jelly Legs.Same white collared shirt and black trousers all year.

Also a lad called Carl who I think drove for a guy who had two of the wonderful iveco’s, and also Andy Andyluchci? (buggered if I can spell his name) and not sure if he was on B.I or Skillbeech his truck had a wall of lights on it looked like the sun rolling down the road.

I didnt think Alverca was too bad , there used to be a good restaurant on the hill , the owner used to come and collect you (like Fred used to )in his van and drop you back later, there used to be a girl who worked there who spoke fluent English ,I think her name was Julia, she left there and went to work in a Barclays Bank in Lisbon
We used to go into Rowntree Mackintosh opposite the TIR park for a shower and something to eat ,bit like going into Phillips and Macro on Zona Franca to use their facilities .
In Gibraltar an appartment was available for drivers to have a shower.
I am not sure if it was free or pay something.I heard you would get more than a shower from the friendly owner.

I used to load a full load of tiles then on top 26 pallets of spontex sponges. Used to be a right pain as the tiles were all different sizes and shapes and always set the radioactive scanner off in Dover
I load a lot of tiles from france and im always setting the scanner off in dover or at the tunnel.

I remember seeing a driver in the showers there one day and he was bitten to death by them blood sucking mozzies at about the same time a rumour was going around that you could get AIDS from mozzies as they had to pump a little blood from the last victim in to you to prime their ■■■■. He was not impressed when I relayed this to him if loks could kill i would have been laying in the sewer trench.
I also recall being told by some Dutch guys about a really good Restaurant in town cheap and great food so a bunch of us Brits went of for the walk to find this place. I have no idea why we waited for it to open that should have been the give away,when we got in the next reason for legging it would have been the tables half a dozen table cloths more cutlery than that 3 or 4 glasses this is no cheap place. Common sense would have been to run but oh no we all sat down enjoyed the nibbles while we choose our fodder,we eat well and then the bill came. I still can recall the look on the faces and the fact that ALL the waiters seemed to be around our table I can also recall that i was the only one with a credit card worth a crap so it was down to me to pay. Believe it or not every one paid me back when they got home most by post EXCEPT one now I am not going to point any fingers bugger it was a long time ago but I will give you a clue or two B/I large gut and scouse.
