Any ex pats in spain truckin can advise please would be very grateful. Thanks. Hodge…
This CPC ■■■■ is crap
I dont think I know any driver from back home who could pass the exam ? … i’m so glad I got away from there when I did … Never gonna live there again
Pat Hasler:
pass the exam ?
What exam - there are no exams or tests for THE PERIODIC (ongoing) DRIVER CPC

And that is what makes this whole CPC thing absolutely ridiculous. Its meant to cut down on the ‘cowboys’ but as there is no test / exam the cowboys can carry on… The mind boggles sometimes.

I kind of disagree with that, as far as I can see the intention of the Driver CPC was never to get rid of anyone it was introduced because some EU muppets needed to show themselves to be doing something, so the something they decided to do was to raise some additional revenue for the various EU governments, basically it’s a “Driver Tax” going by the name of “Driver CPC”.
I agree though that without the need to prove yourself the Driver CPC is worthless … well apart from the revenue it will raise anyway.
I have just read the link to Warwick University that Ricki has posted in the Big Train thread,
I read through the 5 subject headings under The Courses
Seems like the first days training is just information that can be gleaned from these pages, whilst sat in your underwear at home with a large Vodka.
And the first 7 hours training is going to cost Joe Bloggs £113.85
For those that are going to have to pay for THE PERIODIC (ongoing) DRIVER CPC themselves and lose time off work the best bet is to find the cheapest course possible that you can do on a day off (course time counts as nothing towards any regs) and do it 5 times - one day every year for 5 years, to spread cost - boring but cost effective as possible.
For those that are being paid to do it then the company will determine what course(s) you will do (well they are paying for it all ) - just put up with it (it’s probably less stressful than meeting all those numpties on the road for a few hours ) - you may even find the odd course that is useful
It still strikes me as a total waste of time and money. I have worked for 3 companies over here. At BFS we had a 4 day orientation which involved sitting in their classroom and going over myriad stuff only really pertinant to that company. The other 2 firms have been fairly informal and lasted about 45 minutes.
TBH, that was about all it took. This CPC is not an actual CPC, but is another nonsense piece of laminated paper you will have to carry in your wallet to show some ignorant security person and that is all. Thankfully, they have more sense than to enforce such nonsense here. If we need training for a specific job then we get it at the site. It takes 10 minutes to watch a video, 5 minutes to answer the questions, and 5 more to get your card. No drama, no sitting in a classroom with people you don’t want to be with, listening to some teacher more interested in wiping his Hi Viz clean than to what he or she is actually doing.
It may be law, but is a stupid, wasteful law. It is a further demonstration of why the UK is now a toothless tiger and a shameful place!
It’s communism, just another way for the government to monitor you, the whole thing makes my blood boil.
If it was an exam that would make the industry more professional then I would be all for it, but it isn’t going to change anything at all, it just gives the EU another database to snoop over.
I’m sick to death of all the inteference from our ‘leaders’ they’re supposed to be our representatives in Parliament, but instead they roll out directive after directive telling us how we should be doing this & how we should be doing that, WTF do they know anyway? They’re all a BOCs

Your dead right on that Chap but at least in all the communist countries I visited you could avoid the numerous police posts if needed but not a lot of chance avoiding Not So New Labours cameras on every street corner, BOCs just about sums them up really & just wait until Mandy gets his paws on Bagpus Gordons job! Jeez he’s gonna be wobbling like a weeble left to right and back again trying to please his cronies.
