The Best Connection (Agency)

Anybody work for these guys?
They keep spamming my local Jobcentre with non existent jobs. When I called about a job they didn’t have any ‘yet’ but once the Haulage Companies around here find out they are opening up in this area they will have plenty of work. WTF.

Is it Trading Standards that are in charge of these ads or the JobCentre?

Is there any agency that doesn’t do that?

Round here they are alright, tend to do long term contracts with bigger companies rather than the more flexible stuff.

They all do ‘it’ but not to the extent that these guys do. Every working day, at least 20 bs ads at a time.

My DH worked for them out of Leicester for a while. They can be good to work for if you are reliable and do the job - once he’d done a few jobs for them and got good feedback from the firms, he had his choice of work from them.

Thanks.

The Job Centre is an employment agency like all the private ones. If the private ones advertise at the JC, then say they have filled the vacancy the JC gets credit for reducing unemployment and helps keep it open. Just another way of fiddling the unemployment figures, everyone gains except the poor soul who actually wants a real job because there isn’t one.

Been signed up with my local BC for about 5 yrs now, was ok in the begining, but now they only have the crap work, not got much main work, mainly work passed on by other agencies. Very hit and miss, not done any work for them for 2 months. They rang the other day saying they had more work from next month, but where that was I’m in with another agency already so no go.

TBH they’re abit like driverhire, some good offices some tossers

Par for the course I’m afraid, Don’t worry it doesn’t take long after you sign up to become an expert on the chicanery and ■■■■■■■■.

“they asked for you again” which means we have phoned everyone and no one will do it, “go in there today and I will sort something out for you tomorrow” which means you’ll be there all week. “You’re on of our best drivers and I’m calling you first” See above.

I found it helped to hold the phone in my right hand and use the index finger of my left hand to induce vomiting during any phone conversation with an agency.

Hehehe, had those. In fact just had one today.

Agencies are all scum with no exceptions. The last one I went to recieved a phone call while I was filling out the forms.
Customer: the 1800 is cancelled but 1600 still on
Agency calls driver 1: they’ve cancelled your 1800 can you make 1600.
Agency calls driver 2: the job’s cancelled, one of the drivers mates is doing it as overtime. If anything comes in we’ll let you know.
Needless to say I walked out
