Mike, as you drive for tesco i wonder if you could answer my question ?I passed a tesco assesment approx 15 months ago and was issued with the so called “tesco passport”
Do you know how long this is valid for as it only ststews the start date on the card but no expiry date !!I have not driven for tesco since this was issued and i am wondering if i could drive via adr network for tesco .
Thnks mick
the card is yours. you can work for whoever you like and you are still tesco assessed. that assessment may be a lifetime pass but some niggly thing in my head says its 5 years then do another one
Apparently Morrison offload you as well…

correct. get to a store, on a bay and hand the keys in. the downside is that you take a break while they tip you instead of where you want to take a break. no eating or drinking in the cab!

Well I’m a step closer to becoming a trolley dolly, had my DSA & Hazard perception tests today at Tesco and passed, next step is the driving assessment, got that next week.
Well done. Good luck.

Good, like I said in the mirrors like a mad fool, do the walk round checks as usual on the unit take your time.
Couple up to a trailer ( stop get out and check the 5th wheel height) couple of reversing exercises in the depot then out for a drive, you have passed the interview and the D.S.A test (the hardest bits) one step away from a life of leisure.

Thanks for the tips Mike, much appreciated.
After the tests we had a bit of a wander around the warehouse, place is massive, £100m start up cost apparently. Are you in Magor depot?? Few lads from there who are going to be doing the assessing I think.

No Avonmouth, I call into Magor for a unit occasionally, might know the assessor? think of the driving assessment as making a bacon sandwich, very difficult to **** it up.
Had my driving assessment at tesco today, went well and fella said it was fine, so had an interview with a manager later in the morning, seemed to go well enough. Was told I’d be contacted later this week with a decision if I’ve got it or not, fingers crossed
mike68:
As a Tesco driver I can answer this one, Your interview will be conducted by a Transport Team Manager if there is to be a large intake there may be a initial group interview held by several managers and then one to one’s, a few common sense questions nothing to worry about and nobody trying to catch you out. You say “1st stage” of the interview everything was done on my first visit. My interview lasted about 20 minutes, then you will be asked to provide a urine specimen where any recreational drugs and alcohol will show up, you also have to take a D.S.A theory test and score above 85%.
You will then have an assessment drive where you will couple up to a trailer(stop short of the trailer get out and check the 5th wheel height and adjust accordingly) do a couple of reversing exercises (on to bays in the depot) and 20-30 minutes on the road 2 hands on the wheel and plenty of mirrors before you move off and plenty during the drive.
I can’t say if the above applies exactly to the depot you are applying to as all depots vary but the major points above will apply to all depots. I was offered the job on the day some depots contact you up to 10 days after the interview.
The job is worth having good pay good benefits and steady regular employment without doing silly hours, good luck.
And the hard Work is anywhy done by Agency Drivers )))))))
Good luck pal I hope they don’t screw you over like they did to me and 182 of my mates at Doncaster

That is one of my fears mate, I asked at the interview what’s the likelihood of stobarts coming in at a later date, I was told “unlikely, but never say never”.
I’ve spoke to a few tesco drivers in the couple of days I’ve been there for tests and interviews and the drivers don’t seem too impressed with what went on at Doncaster.
I’d be moving from Selby to reading, so the last thing I want is stobarts coming in at a later date
If your moving down this way, try and stay clear from the depths of Whitley!

Looking at Calcot area or thatcham, I worked in Newbury for a few years, so know the area a bit. Whitley where you live or is it a hole??
Born & bred in Reading, still here. Let’s just say it ain’t the nicest of areas! In the nicer side of Woodley atm and its pretty quiet. Takes 10 mins to work, which is the opposite side of the roundabout to Tesco. If you do decide on Whitley, make sure you’ve got a couple of hungry Rotty’s in the garden!!

Thanks for the heads up, will give that area a miss then if a job offer comes through
Will be renting at 1st and reading seems pricy, so have been looking a bit further out, get a bit more for the money
Ahh, Whitley.
Seem to remember some years back it being in the news because of the very large ■■■■ works there which caused the Whitley Niff
