Tesco contract goes to DHL

dozy:
I’ll not say what I was told , but the fact there taking on all these new contracts tells a tale to be honest

Aw goni tell us. Being stuck in this hospital is doin ma nut in. A need a laugh.

i would think stobarts can not provide the service as they can not get good drivers as they pay such crap money

i seen an advert for a stobart job £435 a week ■■? dont know how many hours for it but i think anyone would be better off doing an 8 hour day in any other type of job and would earn the same if not more or maybe a bit less

try doubling the money and they might start to get old drivers who know how to do the job back into the game stick with that sort of money and you will only get the numb nuts who want to wear the green shirt and have there photo taken but have a liking for hitting bridges, getting lost down country lanes or any other manner of stupidity that they can get up to

We all know you wont drive a truck because of the DCPC so how about you put on your rose tinted specs and stop talking crap.Or go back under your rock and crap in a plastic bag.

Don’t really care about where the contract goes or stays, as long as it doesn’t go to XPO that is!

Were you born a helmet or is it something that developed over time?

Given Stobarts new CEO is Alex Laffey, previously distribution director for Tesco, I doubt you’ll see any changes in the UK.

nas-group.com/eddie-stobart-brin … s-new-ceo/

Ireland is a different prospect and I doubt they’ll be overly bothered about losing a troublesome and costly to operate contract.

i think my mum would die of laughing if she was still alive, if i shown up wearing a silly green shirt and boasted of a £435 a week pay packet

Your mum died before you left school?

She probably killed herself on realisation that her son was a complete bellend and she hated her own child.

Still on the dole like all the other work-shy scroungers, Pete? Because if you are, I bet the blokes earning ‘only’ £435pw are doing a lot better than you are.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. My brother in law made a lifestyle choice to go on benefits about 5 years ago. When you factor in free rent and council tax on a 3 bed house, free school meals and bus passes for 3 kids, his wife’s benefits, free prescriptions to scratch the surface, he’s on a hell of a lot more than £435 a week

My sis in law and her “man” and 3 kids and dog and 3 big tellys do OK out of benefits.

But I wouldn’t swap my “£435” a week pay packet for their lifestyle.

So you think someone being a trolley dolly for Tescos should be earning nearly £900 a week?  That would put the heavy haulage lads on at least 2 grand a week then in your world.

Tesco used to pay more than that at Harlow, hence they moved to Dagenham. They now have a massive portion of trailers moved by subbies, half the workforce in tesco units are ex Harlow drivers in the final year of 3 year fixed term deals, the other half is mostly agency drivers. Very few took up the new terms and conditions. It’s probably the only current supermarket dc in the area, if not the country where you can ring up and be a full time employee within a week :open_mouth:

Do you mean he can’t find steady work paying enough to support a family? Or does he have a disabled child?

Because I’ve yet to meet the man who prefers to spend his life on JSA (receiving only enough to pay for bare necessities like food and shelter) than work for decent pay and conditions.

He’s a plumber. He got made redundant a few years back when his company lost a maintenance contract with Tower Hamlets council. He was on 40k a year but found all available jobs in his industry were now paying sub 23k. He quickly realised the £150 a week he got, plus his wife is now entitled to the same, then they have £160 a week in rent paid, he’s almost at his 40k a year pre tax wages

Work shy scroungers if you ask me.

I agree to an extent, can’t say I blame him though. This government has encouraged a race to the bottom in wages, where 40 hour a week jobs pay third world rates. If he went back to work he wouldn’t be able to feed his family as his wages would only keep the roof over their heads with nothing else left to live on

And that’s the crutch of why a lot of us want to see if there is a better way, as one thing is for sure, it’s not going to get any better on this course. And as for the 40 hours, you’ll be lucky as there’s a fair chance that everyone will be on a zero hours contract before long, and things like proper sick pay will be a distant memory. Just like our legal aid and free NHS dentistry.

Improvements for workers in recent years my arse!!! :imp:
