At reading, you choose what you want to do as a 2nd run, you want a long day, you get one, you want a short day, you get one. I’d say your mate is choosing to bang in the hours.

Erm no!!!
We don’t get the choice - “don’t want to do it? Go home then!!!”

Gotta laugh at the tesco experts, the “worked like dogs” comment made me laugh, couldn’t be further from the truth.

I work for tesco and can’t see all these things that a few people say about them. I’ve been told on here that I love tesco too much  If I had a problem with tesco, I certainly ain’t about to bring it on here as they are my employer and I don’t fancy losing my job as we all know a lot of employers come on here to see what’s being said about their company.

This is your problem Selby, you are biased towards your employer because you’ve got the blinkers on & you’re scared to speak up as you’ve just admitted. Sometimes people in the outside see things differently & see things that you can’t see, not such a bad thing…

Tesco ■■■■■■ a lot of people off that’s why they’re spoken about a lot on here. They treat everyone from suppliers to contractors, customers & staff like zb, why are you the exception I wonder?

No mate, not scared, just not an idiot. People have lost their jobs through running their mouths off on the Internet, I don’t intend on being one of them. I don’t fancy not being able to pay my bills due to having slated my employer because I’ve had a bad day at work. Ever heard the saying, don’t bite the hand that feeds you?? That’s how I live my life.

I can well imagine Tesco does ■■■■ people off, but you tell me a company that doesn’t, they are all the same at the end of the day, just interested in profit. I’m no exception as you said, I just like to go to work and earn my money with as little hassle as possible, I don’t set out to be a pain in the arse and get left alone, just the way I like it.

Cant see the problem with speaking your mind as long as it’s the truth, the truth hurts hence employers becoming heavy handed on people who speak out…!

The outfits that don’t ■■■■ people off are the ones that are not being spoken about on places like here & I’m sure there are many, they’re not all the same fella…

Must admit you hear very little about sainsburys or asda on here.
What thry like anyone know?

I’m just curious, reading about these stores in London, what are the top 3 most pain in the ■■■ express/metro stores to deliver to and why?

also seen one supermarket uses 8m double decker urban trailers in London, do tesco use these?

selby newcomer:
You working at Dagenham then Karl67■■ Is it anything like the doom and gloom merchants are making out??

Yes at dagenham, Some seem to have issues, but i’ve not had any major problems that aren’t sorted that day tomorrows a new day.
Get on with all the managers, always willing to help if you ask.
As for hours i do an average of 10 sometimes 7/8
As today start 4.15 1 drop hendon arrive at 6 not ready till 6.30, cup of tea, tipped/reloaded leave at 8, back at rsu 9.15,
drop trailer 45 break at 10, no more shortish runs left so sit around till 1 diesel up clock off at 1.30.

2nd run depends on what you want short or long day.

No we don’t use 8m double deckers only 13m

I do tesco work and if it was all long work our lot wouldn’t be making you sit in the canteen for 3/4/5 hrs per shift to make your hours up to 10.5 hrs per shift( you can choose to go home but if you do you’ll just get paid the 5/6/7 hrs you’ve done not your guaranteed 10 hrs.
Before this was brought in I’ve started midnight/1 a.m and been back in house5/ 6/7/8 a.m.
There are long hours as well if you do 2/3 runs a day but a lot of that is waiting for runs.
Before the doing 10.5 hrs was bought in I’ve gone from 70/80 hrs one week to 30 hrs the next week
I also know a lot of trampers hate the work because they can’t get the hours in,one was only telling me this morning he’d been parked up after 10 hrs all this week

Hi mate

I would really be interested to learn how any employer can find out who is posting unfavourable comments about them on this site.
I know there are a lot of people posting here who are not drivers but TM’s and haulage companies owners and it is plain to see, they would always discourage drivers from organizing themselves , joining unions, but I really can not see how anybody can find out who you really are.
If you’ve told too much about yourself, open a new account, get a new user name and post under a new name, simples.

I’m sure ‘Rikkiuk’ or one the moderators can grass you up because i don’t think they’re on our side. If you open another account they can trace your IP address which is a dead giveaway…

hmmm, interesting, thanks for the info Pimpdaddy.
There is a simple solution to this, use an internet cafe shop, somewhere near to where you live, in London there are plenty of them everywhere you go, and write what you have to say about a given company, agency.
If those that moderate this board, run this site are not on drivers side, then there might be an opportunity for someone who would want to establish a hgv driver’s site where drivers can feel safe posting.
I would definitely stop using this site and would move to the new one.

Id support that, not logistically easy changing IP addresses etc, I think you’d have to be a computer whizz to do it…

I wonder what’s in it for the moderators…!?

Most people who work for Tesco or any of the other big chains enjoy the work and usually have a long view of the benefits of working for such an employer such employers insist that personal views about the company and fellow employees are kept off public forums such as this, this goes without saying for most people.

I would say the majority of drivers would have the integrity to leave a job they were not happy with without making there views public.

Seeing as there’s been a slight thread drift already, anyone else heard the rumour that when Merc stop making the Axor, they’ll be buying DAFs?

“such employers insist that personal views about the company and fellow employees are kept off public forums such as this, this goes without saying for most people.”

Why would they want personal views of employers to be kept off public forums such as this?
Is this because they treat employees so badly that they do not want others to know about it?
Why would any employee speak bad a his employer if the employer treated him with respect and as a human being?
If we follow this rule then all websites reviewing and rating various products people buy, rating on amazon under every product, ratings of ebay sellers, and so on , would need to disappear, but they won’t because that’s the main reason people visit these sites, that’s the main reason they buy highly rated products and use highly rated sellers because they fill more secure, they feel they want be raped buy some cowboy merchant, the same goes with employers.
I always live ratings on ebay and amazon whenever I buy a products so other potential buyers get some help deciding what to buy which seller is safe to use.
You never use any ratings on amazon or ebay Mike68?
If you don’t Mike68, it’s your choice, but you might be surprised to learn that 99% of ebay buyers and amazon buyers use those sites and those sellers because they feel much safer using them due to ratings left there by other users.

“such employers insist that personal views about the company and fellow employees are kept off public forums such as this, this goes without saying for most people.”

Thanks for that quote Mike68, at least we can clearly see you are not a driver but work for the management at Tesco.
You might have been a driver at some stage in the past, as most TM’s have but you have switched sides and now you are on the other side of the fence.
I would like “insist” that employers treat us drivers with some basic respect, treat like human beings, not rugs and carp, they tend to.

mike68:

Hard to believe, with how much tesco love axors & how mighty they think they are you’d have thought merc would have kept the production line going exclusively for tesco:)
Good news for the drivers who don’t have to drive such zb motors for much longer…

Your post suggests you have a “us” and “them” mentality in which case you will be at loggerheads with management forever, try the you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours approach if that doesn’t work find an employer that appreciates your efforts, to answer your question I am a driver, one who wonders why other drivers have to make such a big drama and performance and make their lives difficult it puzzles me they go on like it for years, moan moan Stobart this Tesco that moan moan on the internet and to other drivers and then clam up when the gaffer appears laughable really.

Our remaining ten 18month old Axors are being sent over to the mainland in Jan after the Xmas rush, there are ten new model 410 FM’s coming in Nov to replace them and join the other 28 FM410s.
They are finding the Volvo’s far easier on diesel.
That will make the Tesco NI fleet 100% Volvo all under 1yr old :exclamation: :exclamation: :sunglasses:

Both working direct and via agency NOBODY in NI can get near Tesco for paying VERY good money working direct and “sensible” money via agency. :sunglasses:

As for Fleetboard/Iso-track, drive the truck like YOU owned it and you’ll not go wrong :exclamation: :exclamation:
