Tarmac tippers

TARMAC:

Andy Jackson’s Ennstone-Johnston liveried Volvo…

Its when you see pictures like this that make you realise how different the tipper game has become in the last 20-odd years.

Paul Smart’s Volvo, looking “smart”, cleaning out at Stowfield Quarry recently…

Depressing mate. Almost as if the blacktop job has been taken over by the corporates/truckfest crew.
Gloss, sheen, style over substance.

TBH, I’m glad I never truly got into it despite the halcyon days I spent in the 70s and 80s riding shotgun.

Oh and superb pics as ever Tarmac. Cheers mate! :sunglasses:

i/m just starting to dip me toes so to speek and i’m loving it so far all the memorys keep flooding back when i’m in there

I reckon that the Foden would have a better payload, and thats what pays the bills rather than the amount of spot lamps! :unamused:

Pete.

Breedon Aggregates are the largest independent aggregates company in the UK. Good to see a company take on the conglomerates.

One of the smartest, and cleanest MQP Trucks is that of Tony Gough, this is his previous Volvo, that was often seen on the roads of the West Midlands. This one was replaced in early June 2011, by a new Volvo, of which I have yet to see…As mention previously, MQP Ltd is a Tarmac / Hanson JV. Look at the logo on the tipper body, and the M is in the style of the “A” from ARC (now Hanson) and the outer triangles are in the colours of Tarmac.

That toolbox and the fairy lights under it and the fuel tank look a bit vulnerable. Nice truck though.

that bottom pic is hartshorn at shrewsbury

Looks class, i’ll see if I can get some pictures from Tony, it would have been chasis cab from Hartshornes, then down the road to Bulkrite, Dorrington for the tipper body to be added…here’s an older Volvo, one of the low loaders…

Now that is a smart truck, looks bang on. Well turned out tippers, like this one, are my favourite trucks.

Just stunning

Some from the Welsh Border.

Seen in the Aberystwyth area.

New scanner already to go ! For my old mate Kelvin…JNX 410V, Leyland Reiver was the first Owner Driver truck for Martin Kelly, originally from Stowfield Quarry…

While based at Stowfield Quarry, a rare vehicle, Ford Cargo F818 BUE, again one of Martin Kelly’s, photograped at the old weighbridge at Stowfield (what was the original entrance from Hoveringham days), and now blocked off with earth…

Proper trucks again, ta, drove for Tarmac out of Teesport in my youth (70’S), so I’ll always follow this thread. P.S. I can list the Reg No of every truck I drove at the time, suppose I should have gone out more!!!

Keep those old pics coming Tarmac!

I m liking that Cargo!

Cheers
Mark

Cheers Tarmac mate, the old uns (khaki) are the best; particularly the ones pre 1984 that had the seven Ts logo on the vehicles body alongside the name.

Brilliant! :sunglasses:
