Tarmac tippers

Tarmac Bayston Hill’s 1999 Open Day, Dave Pink’s DAF poses under the UMM Coated Plant (installed in 1972, and still going strong to this very day !)

Bet there was some cracking old khaki wagons loading under that in it’s first year!

A young (ish) Peter F.Arnold arrives at Bayston Hill Quarry in his Leyland D542GUE, 1989…

Some 16 years later, this is Peter’s last Owner Driver lorry, H12 PFA…

Some from the Tarmac quarries this way. Also some from South Wales working up here.

This one was the “Daddy” of Bayston Hill trucks in its day, T4TPT was seen in this condition at all times, and usually with T4AKP following in close convoy, equally as clean…this was the last in the line of Tony Pugh’s trucks, this one being new on a Y plate, circa 2002. It was re registered as T12TAW later with its second owner, and then back to its original Y plate with its third owner, still working out of Bayston Hill…

this was my last truck before i finnished,do miss some of the lads but not the [zb] that goes with the contracts.

Stunning looking Tipper, a credit to you sir in a rough woking enviorment  Is it still working?
Cheers
John

I have a V2 FM12 420 at the moment and got out of a VI FM10 320 and would prefer the V1, although wit the 420 engine and 12 speed box

Another one from the past, 1996 we think, Bayston Hill Tippers on display, Two of Kevin Castle’s FL’s, and Mr Pugh himself with N4TPT.

And as BD is suffering from a lack of these, a khaki one ! Ipswich Docks, MWR Norman’s FL10 poses by the new A14 bridge, early 1990’s…this is the site of the current new Tarmac Asphalt Plant, the one that was in use back then, was as you entered the dock area.

hi andy the only reason i went through the wheel wash because they said i would be band out of the quarry for a week ,as you know idid not conform to most of the rules so i must have been on my last warning, made laugh tho because if i went through the wheel wash they followed because if went through they thought someone was watching, o happy days when all you got off the management was a shake of the head and you should know better, not like that now,

hi, these photos were taken at raf cosford, we were sober then as tarmac sent a camara man down to take some photos, later on in the day went into allbrighton close to cosford, many a beer later some words were said and a bit of verble and handbags went on with the locals, not proud of that day but they did think they owned the pub, wont say know more but we changed there minds.

hi john, you could have got your hands on it in2004, sold for £55.000, then, she was my pride and joy washed her every night, it seems sad now that i did that, but i loved it them days so much fun and friendship, in a way put tarmac trucks on the map with all gear and truck shows we went to, cliffe hill boys used to call us berties boys as he was the area transport manager , as we say the good old days. tony.

I always try to avoid the wheel washes as well. most times the truck was dirtier after going through than it was before. Im lucky so far because Minffordd quarry where i work most of the time hasnt got a wheel wash yet. supposed to be getting one end of this year when the new road is being built next to the quarry

Thanx Tony, they were the good old days, and will never be repeated…another one from the past, the first Y4 GCT brand new… …
