Tarmac bulk cement driver

Evening guys I have been offered an interview for the above position does any one have any info on salary for this job only got to speek to the office women why didn’t no, don’t want to attend if salary isn’t suitable thxs

Why do companies insist on keeping pay on job adverts secret? It’s obviously the main thing most drivers are going to want to find out. What harm would it do to just put them on there?

Because most are ■■■■■ and they know they won’t get any interest so they end up saying nothing and the infamous “ Salary will be discuss at interview “ or the even worse one “Salary competitive with market “ aka we pay as little as poss but want the earth moon and galaxy from you as a driver- and you should be grateful for the opportunity we give you [emoji38]

I don’t suppose everyone who works everywhere wants their likely pay put in print for the world and his wife to gawp at, though i understand the annoyance at having to go through all the application ■■■■■■■■, including maybe an assessment (where your digi card grasses you up for looking elsewhere) only to find the pay is crap and they had more chance of ■■■■■■■ in the queen’s handbag than recruiting you.

Salary approx disclosure should possibly be part of the initial telephone conversation to suss out if its worth the time for either party setting up a formal interview.

Believe they are on similar wage to us, so somewhere £32-35k a year maybe depending on bonuses/perks etc

I think that firms are cagey these days regarding salary, and what they quote isn’t always the full story? Back in the late eighties a local family owned company (infact their yard was less than 1/4 mile from my home) advertised for a driver for their B series ERF tipper and I went for an interview. It was a very short interview, I asked about the work (punishment compared to what I was already doing) and then the money and the ‘gaffer’ couldn’t tell me so one of his sons volunteered the information that the previous driver had “only jacked because he didn’t think the wage was good enough for the work involved”. :unamused: I was soon back indoors and stayed with the job I had for another ten + years! I did eventually leave and take a job with less pay, but there were other advantages and cash wasn’t the main criterior by then.

Pete.
