Tanker driver rates

Morning all

I am looking to use a few artic (not ADR) tankers on a contract in Bristol and wondered what rates should be acceptable for the drivers. Mon - Friday the occasional Saturday with 1 or 2 nights out a week. It would be a nice steady away job.

Cheers,

Present time employ flip flops, cheap don’t give them to much communication,£7.20p an hour no overtime rate, but pay nights out… double up your insurance premium though.many get rich hauler’s have got caught out by that ie insurance going up for 6 moters from £ 35 K to 135 K.its your shout

I can’t help agreeing with rog270’s view here, but I’d say…

Given that it’s a tanker job and the particular extra responsibilities that go with it… if you pay peanuts, you’ll get monkeys, then you’ll pay the insurers more (but in a lump sum at a later date) than you’d have paid (more easily over a longer period) to make the wages look attractive enough to get the right drivers.

Hell of a choice though.
