Taking the plunge

company name would be good

He did say he went into a separate venture thus meaning he could’ve went into business with someone else?? But 7 in his startup within a year is crazy! I’ve got 4 on the road all within 3 months but I think that’s the most I’ll have for the moment

Proof ? or it never happened :sunglasses:

The company this guys talking about is Monahans Transport in Southampton.

Details of it can be found on Facebook and companies house, and the owner can be found on LinkedIn.

(I’m not an OD by the way- not even in the transport industry)

:sunglasses:
…And also the company he has now entered a partnership with for the additional 10 or so artics in the last 12 months:

We’re going to need a fair few wet wipes to remove a lot of egg off a lot of faces !!

You’re welcome… :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

It would be nice to see some pics of the fleet. Surely anyone who has built up a fleet of 15 in a year would be proud to show it off?

You don’t 'build up ’ 15 that quick ,you either launder money or borrow a lot or make a big mistake by spending what you have earned easier in another business .

No egg on my face ,I’d say iam about right  ,must be one of the above ,as for looking on company reports it means sod all ,when you look at mine it would have you belive the company owes a fortune when actually it’s untaken dividends by directors .

all that’s telling me is that he is a subbie for JHS in Southampton. nothing near what he said he was going to do at the outset

…OK, a ‘subbie’ who’s listed as as one of the two directors of JHS Logistics then.

There are asset finance lenders out there that will provide finance if you are willing to pay back higher than average interest rates.

And I’ll stand by what I say, we can all double the size of our fleet every year, but that means nothing unless you can sustain it over time.

And as Punchy said, accounts don’t say much. We couldn’t get finance for a few years because the accounts didn’t look ‘right’, so I wrote cheques instead and that’s what we do to this day. No finance on anything now.

Fair play to the lad is all I can say.

I find it all a little bit difficult to believe although appears true. JHS and Monahan are both registered to the same address have the same director but are seperate entities. JHS was only incorporated this year. What is baffling is how he got so much credit for a new small business, 2 of them in fact and the trucks are not that old, Banks don’t lend that freely anymore unless you have lots of collateral even then it’s a struggle.

Interesting to say the least.

Finance is a superset issue, the chap most likely gone down the contract hire of the trucks. You can get some good deals about on new and 2nd hand motors. When I was looking between the 2 options of hire purchase and contract hire. Scania offered me a brand new R450 topline for £450 a week but I’d have to put a deposit of 3 months up front but that’s scania and they are quite tough with their finances bare in mind I only started operating in August. Hope this helps

I see you’ve a “write up” in this week’s Truckstop News??
The Renault T460s going well for you??

Will eat some humble pie here and wish you the best for the future,
the box rates must be better than £1.20mile after all!!! [emoji6]
