Hi all. New here. I did a search before posting but didn’t find my exact question
I’d just like to hear from any owner drivers who take their dogs with them when driving regarding your experience. Is this generally ok at sites you arrive at? Are there any sites where you’ve been refused entry because you had a dog in the cab, or where you would have been if they’d known etc etc
If you don’t have any first hand knowledge of this but you disagree with the idea, you’re entitled to your opinion and I respect it, but I’m looking for information from people who have done it
If your in a dedicated truck can’t see an issue as such.but i if your different truck every day then would be a no.
End day all depends on where you work smaller company’s could be ok but larger ones could say no.
As for places where I worked fella took his dog everyday never had an issue at deliver places over 4 years or so.
But these days health safety etc who knows. I’d imagine food places would say no
Used to take my dog everywhere but started having problems. I think most RDCs will not let you take a dog on site anymore. Recall having an argument with a security guy in Sainsbury RDC who said I would not be allowed to take a dog into a shop so why did I think I be would be allowed to take one into their RDC, I pointed out I frequently take her to Sainsbury and she stays in the car. Luckily I had a passenger with me and she stayed outside while I got tipped. I got banned from a chemical company in Warrington for bringing a dog on site. If your delivering to places like building sites you should be OK.
If you 're on dock work that can be a problem(think rabies etc).
Think you have to have a pass for the dog for each dock complex(!) certifying microchip, inoculations etc.
Also can be a problem if you get somewhere eg RDC and your cab is in full sun and you have had to hand in your keys so no aircon but you can’t let dog out of cab(can also be a problem come weewee/poo time!)
Speaking from experience-good luck.
