Tail lift work, how to improve speed of loading - unloading?

What condition is the tail lift, pallet truck, roll cages in, are they regularly serviced and checked over or is it a free for all to get the best vehicle, equipment, load etc?

I had a job once delivering milk dollies to an RDC. 1st time it took me 1 1/2hrs to tip a 40’ artic. A few weeks later, (and a stone lighter!) it was taking me 40 mins like the other blokes.
It seriously does come through repetitive practice. Incidentally, I was out with one of the other guys learning a new route. We were delivering pallets. After me putting two on the tail lift, he grabbed the pallet truck and took over as I was too slow! So it’s entirely possible you are just slow atm. It will come.
Lastly, when doing another job, I learned that other crews were dumping the load outside for the shops to take in. But the shop staff ‘neglected’ to tell me that…

Ive seen drivers putting one pallet right over to one side of the tail lift, then sending another one on the pump truck handle first. when the wheels drop off the tail lift the pallet stops :open_mouth:
