well, when in scandinavia…
480 tag before it was fully airbrushed…
Always liked this shot… bobtailing out the Tubifico factory going for pizza on a Friday evening.
F16 tag, bit heavy with a fridge but was very stable.
420 tag, not the best motor he ran.
Jeff…
brilliant jeff. that volvo, was it originally owned by nedu trucking or something like that do you know?
Hi Mat, no it was me, got it as a cancelled order and worked it on fridges, then A +NA Meek bought it and I airbrushed it for him and put his name on it. He did Spain and Turkey for Ralph D, then a bit of DT work. It got punted around a bit, Bustone bought it at auction when I was working for him ( didn’t know anything about it until it arrived in the yard ), it was still in the same colour but a bit rough so I touched it up . He ran it for 6 months but by that time someone had mucked about with it and the best we could do was about 4/12 to 5 to the gallon so it went back to auction. I saw it in Austria about a year after that, then somewhere on my to Turkey after that, by that time it was pulling an Irish fridge. I heard it was written off over the side of the road in Portugal, but saw it again about a year after that. It always seemed to be low in power and high on fuel, Volvo never seemed to get to the bottom of it.
There are some more photos on the Over the water and beyond thread, in the old duffers section…

Jeff…
Hi Jeff! Now thats one good looking lorry!
Thanks Dan,Italian spec V 8 Turbo Star, I said 480 on the badge but it was lot more than that. It would eat Centurions and FH 520’s. There was a guy following me through from Brogue to the Faszers, he thought there was something wrong with the suspension as the trucks was rolling about on corners. He also thought that as he was managing to keep up with me, that like him I must also only have a few tons on board. I had 22 ton of groupage on at the time. For all the out put it had it was still pretty good on fuel, and other than regular servicing it didn’t really cause any bother.
