thanks for that - to go that little further - if no is the correct answer do you then have to abide by tacho rules - breaks etc ?

Indeed. If your vehicle is plated over 7500kg then as I understand it you are fully within the scope of all the usual tacho laws even for private use, which if you have a day job Mon-Fri means you are pretty limited in what driving you can do at the weekends as you have to get your weekly rests in somehow.
