tacho question.

If i started work at midnight on sunday night and worked for 1hr and then took 11hrs off, then worked for another 1hr and took another 11hrs off, would i have to use 1 chart or 2 charts ■■?

This isnt a trick question, just wondered, thats all.

I think 1 chart because it’s in one 24hr period.

Now I would have thought that as long as you kept a manual record of the daily rest on the back of the chart that you could put the card back in the machine and use that for the next hour. However, you never know whether you’ll get held up for fourteen hours in an exceptionally freak traffic jam and that could go round the chart and then the chart wouldn’t be legal.

It’s probably best to use a new chart.

Besides, You write the date on your tacho chart and by doing it all on one chart in some circumstances it would be confusing what date you started which shift on. So it could be illegal to do it all on one chart but then again if you recorded the rest break on the back…

2 charts.
1st one drive plus rest, 2nd one after rest period is start of another 24hr period so even though you only drove another hour you could have done a full spread on the 2nd one

One chart, two charts, doesn’t really matter as long as you don’t record more than 24 hours. There are possibly a couple of other potential problems with using two apart from exceeding the 24 hours.
