Tacho question, help please

Sorry let me make it clear. I run a load of tyres up to Eurocentral. They take the tyres off while I have a break but last night they needed to send a load back with me to wakefield so needed to put my truck on the loading bay 20 feet away in the middle of my 45 minute break.

Right ok, you could take your card out for your break so the wagon can be moved by someone else as already stated then do manual entry but it wouldn’t be too clever to do this often and as stated above might be best to do printout explaining the situation.

As has been said if you know the vehicle will be moved take the card out and do a manual entry when you reinsert the card, otherwise, unless you have absolute confidence that they will take your card out, lock the vehicle so if they do need to unexpectedly move the vehicle they have to see you first, you can then remind them to withdraw the card before moving the vehicle.

By the way, it’s not too late to do a printout for last nights shift when you had a 44 minute break, you should really do a printout for last nights work and write and explanation on the back of it.

Oh right so when I put my card in tonight I just tell it to do a printout and sign it with a explanation that I forgot to edit the manual entry. Is that right?

Depending on the model go to the printout screen and select the appropriate date you want the printout for.

seems like you want the penny and the bun …on the bay tipping move it at in the middle of break = 44minutes in your case…

Why did u not just wait the 2 minutes to get the 46 minute break then move?

“exactly”…

Tonight shall I take my card out for my break time and then put it back in? It occurred to me that if you are at a place where they are not bothered about the law the shunter could just ruin your card by driving on it. Best to remove it eh?

Nothing illegal about removing his card on a bay so some one else can move the truck, as said do a Manual entry when you reinsert the card when 45 is up, as long as the person who does move it isn’t going out on the public highway with an in scope vehicle on his shift, also he has no need to do a print out just because the truck was moved by another driver!

Why move it when your on 44 mins ■■? The world won’t end if you wait for 2 mins to get 46.

Why can’t he move it after 15 and then take 30 minutes? Or 45 or an hour or whatever?

Why wait for 46 mins? I do 45’s.

Why don’t YOU move it then have another 30 mins.

That’s what I mean. I’d move it for them as long as my 15 was up and make it clear that you won’t move it again for them until at least 30 minutes have passed. Don’t see the problem really.

And what if the vehicles isn’t unloaded and therefore can’t be moved until well after 15 minutes

Anyway, why move it at-all when he doesn’t have to, he’s already said the loaders will move it when it needs moving, so he won’t have to interrupt his break.

Just habit that I move on 46, had an issue last yr when I set of on 45 & a few mins later tacho was flashing for break, for what ever reason (presume a fault) it had only recorded 44 !! Hence now waiting until time trips over to 46,

But why would you move it on 44■■? Anyone who moves on 44mins is surely just dumb.

Just reading through. If the digi display shows a 45 min break it does not mean a 45 min break. It takez away two mins so now i have to have a 48 min break or longer.
Not all tachos do this.Design fault.

Maybe he moved it before looking to see how long he’s had, but next time he won’t make that mistake.

If it can’t be moved until well after 15 mins is up then it still counts as a 15 break. Even if it 16 or 19 or 23 etc etc. and I realise he doesn’t have to move it himself.
Put it where they want it for unloading, then as long as at least 15 minutes have passed, put it where they want for loading and take at least 30 minutes. Job done, no cards removed, no printouts no hassle.
