Tacho Card Not Used In A Year

Planning to go back on the road this week, and saw a post earlier on in the year that you now have to account for time off in between in scope driving, surely they can’t expect someone to account for 12 months, anyone know what would be needed, thanks.

Don’t let…

The assessor ■■■■ it up. Last month went for an assessment.

“Ooo, a new card, let me sort that for you.”

“I’m cool, I’ll keep it simple.”

“No, we need to do all sorts of un-necessary inputs… Oooo…look at that, I’ve messed it all up and now you’ll have an infringement to sign”

“Goodbye”

Brand new card messed up.

HaHa, Mine was new 12 months ago and an assessment was first and last time it was used, fortunately they don’t want me to do another.

When I renewed my card the first time I put it in Tachomaster, before even using it and it said I had been on continuous other work for 56 days. Similar has happened to colleagues.

It’s only the previous 28 days that need to be accounted for.
Have you been working in a non driving role?

Christ… just press " rest till now", and get on with it…

Easiest option is for your new employer to create an Attestation Letter for you, but don’t be surprised if they respond with a “A what?” as large numbers of operators and TMs are out of touch with latest developments.

This is a template document that needs to be completed on a computer, printed off and signed. If you want to PM me an email address I’ll send a copy to you to give to them

Or alternatively you can tell any officials who may question the blank year that you developed a disturbing penchant for daytime tv which you have now thankfully weaned yourself off and then simply press “rest until now ok”.

Job jobbed.

Thanks for the replies, I have been working, but it was being a taxi driver, but going to do some agency work for a few months for a break from it, the agency knows I haven’t driven for a while and would rather not get them or the client involved, could I just do a couple of print outs and just write on the back saying that no activities have taken place in the last 28 days that has involved an in scope vehicle?

You need the previous 28 days of records, the easiest way to me would be write it out on printout paper

Then insert your card and say no to manual entry, this will record the time on the card as ? Which means unallocated time. do not say yes to rest till now if it asks you that’s as that will make a false record as you weren’t on rest.

This is the level of detail you need to record on a printout

gov.uk/guidance/drivers-hou … raph-rules

In practice I expect a DVSA officer stopping you would quickly realise you are a new driver and ask when the last time you worked was before you started your first in-scope week. If two clear days rest were taken, job done.

After 28 days, just forget about it and worry about more important things.
