"T cabs" and the sort...why bother with them?

I’d much rather have a LongLine…they do look nice, because it makes sense. Although I see a fair few T-Cabs about, I’ve never seen a LongLine. Surely the wheel base is the same for both or almost the same…?

So why do people bother buying them? As far as I can tell, they just look more American to me…anyone care to enlighten me?

because when the owner decided that the great advertising this truck would bring to his company for more work , only to find he’s still been undercut by Stobart, Wincanton,TDG, Dentressangle, Betz, & the price of fuel has made him sell up they can be easily pimped when they come off the road

Touche!!!

We have one in our fleet, and it does not float my boat at all… bumpy ride, notchy gearchange, awkward at junctions and in tight spots, overlength with standard trailers (unless taxed at STGO like ours), pain in the balls to check the dipstick etc… these are all problems quite easily overcome by buying any make of cabover unit!!

Having said that, it does impress many folk (perhaps 'coz they don’t have to drive the poxy thing).

You gotta tilt the cab on a stralis to get to the dip stick. It’s leccy tilt so that’s no too bad but you still got all yer [zb] falling about the cab lol

Yeah, but switch the ignition on after it has sat for half hour (or first thing in the morning and it tells you the level on the dash…

iveco electrics are never to be believed . wait also until you tilt the cab to check the oil and the electric cab tilt packs up. :imp:

I’ve tilted many a Stralis cab to dip the oil to reassure a panicking driver.

I guess their more for show than practicality, IMO their a nice looking truck when blinged up, in standard trim their just pants

I suppose you could ask why buy anything? Why aren’t we all just driving around in bog standard trucks with no extras. Variety is the spice of life.

i’ve tilted them too, but they are far from reliable. both of the stralis i had stopped tilting from the switch and had a set of wires cable tied to the passenger step which got around it.you then got a length of cable and touched the battery terminals to the step wires to tilt. the first time it happened was when the red oil light appeared on the dash and the driver tipped the cab only for it not to come down again. truck oil level turned out to be fine and as the iveco mechanic who came out said “dont believe all them warning lights on the dash”.
