About 2 weeks ago we came in to find the yard /carpark in darkness(pitch black), memo on board saying to be very careful, wear high viz and you must walk within marked out gangways.
Now 2 weeks on we have the same state of affairs, lights still off so it’s fairly apparent there switching them off to save money, but it’s bloody dark out there, that dark you canttsee the yellow markings for walkways for love nor money.
Now I understand every penny counts and I often go round my house switching the lights off after my 22 yr old to save a few pennies.
But this to me is a bit different, there trucks drivers moving around in pitch blackness which isn’t a good idea, accident waiting to happen,so hopefully nothing will happen but how will h+s view it if there is a accident with yard lights /car park lights switched off ta.
N.b as I say I understand the need to save every penny, but I just would of thought there was better/more sensible ways of doing it,you may switch the odd light off in your house, but not the lot

To do your daily walk round checks you will need a torch, have you ever thought of swiching it on as you walk from the car park to the truck?
