Sorry i was being sarcastic, the lowest form of whit, indeed it has risen the new gaffer has a proven track record and the markets understand this.
I feel sorry for those who will lose their jobs and for new starters who will be excluded from the pension.

I expect it would with getting rid of non profitable stores, moving the HQ with cost savings and so on.
A tidal wave of deflation is coming, let the good times role and the prices drop, about ■■■■■■■ time

It’s only the final salary pension that’s stopping as far as I’m aware, the normal contribution pension will be remaining
Top 3 ftse risers are all supermarkets.
Tesco’s CEO, Dave Lewis is on basic pay of £1.25 million. Assuming he does a 40 hour week it works out at around £600 per hour!!!
Be interesting if they just switch some of them over to one stop for a while and if they turn around switch back again. Also bear in mind that Netto return to the UK this year in some collaboration with sainsburys
Tesco store near us was switched to One Stop about 6 months ago, its open from 7 to 11 and you very rarely see anyone in there, they all go to Asda opposite.
Think it’s a prime candidate for closure.

Always wondered what B&Q stood for

Tesco own One Stop, and I think one of the garden centre chains, Dobbys?

B&Q - Bargains & Quality The irony of that was it true.
Maybe Aldi should buy the tescos that are closing down !!!
Not positive news for me if the reduced market share for Tesco means more chance of delivering to Aldi/Lidl.

but delivery to Aldi give more health to drivers.
I wouldn’t get to excited by the news Tesco are closing stores and expect it to be some return to a high street of the 1950’s.
Basically Tesco have been caught out by a change in the market and shoppers habits. They over stretched themselves tried to go global, but had to pull out of entire countries.
Retailers like Aldi and Lidl have cashed in on consumers looking for cheap shopping at the expense of Tesco and the other big supermarket chains, but still most peoples weekly shopping will be in a supermarket, and that supermarket will have its own network of distribution centres. So the job won’t change much just the name on the building.

Keeping a line of drivers standing in the rain waiting on one staff member to book them in does not do much for drivers’ health.
As muckles says if its not a Tesco rdc then it will just be another brand of rdc.
Tesco is putting the brakes on, but it’s just a temporary blip. A company like Tesco has to show growth in profits every year. Each year the profits have to be bigger than the last year. That way, they keep the shareholders happy. A drop in profits is bad, even if it’s still a massive profit. I don’t know how people can think that Tesco will just keep growing forever. So now they’ve reached a point where they just need to trim down a few of the ‘unprofitable’ operations so they can return to ‘growth’, e.g. still hoping to make more profits than ever before, which they will do. It’s being reported like there’s some great panic going on, but it’s nonsense. They make billions every year.
