Good morning all, I have just started a new run with a firm in Essex got a run to figeac at the start of every week. I ship Portsmouth to Caen 0830 Sunday morning boat it’s my first trip tomorrow I’ll have to have finish of my rest in Caen once of the boat but I was just wondering what time I can actually pull out Sunday evening in regards to the Sunday driving times? Sorry for sounding like a complet amateur I’ve been going over for 3 years but usually turn left out of Calais on a Sunday evening! Thank you

There are exceptions for trucks carrying perishable produce or refrigerated produce, trucks servicing sporting events or trade fairs, and a few other cases. ####
make sure you leave your trailer unlocked if you park outside the port,then see how long it is before the swarm of great unwashed realise that you are heading south and not going on the boat… 
I did think it was 10 just wanted to make sure!! Haha I have shipped in and out of Caen a lot and yes your right I will be wary of them lot!! That place is over run by them dogs such a shame
it was ok till a few years ago and handy to get your drink in the wee offy at the petrol station with the option to think about buying your tazers,flick knifes and flicksticks just across from the carpark,but you wouldnt relax down there nowadays which is a shame.
no doubt itl get even worse before it gets better.
ps…i get my wine elsewhere nowadays and i dont have a cab full of tazers and flick knifes.
You can park inside the port, you’ll see the area as you dock.
There is a restaurant/bar in the terminal building, bit of a walk, but it’s worth it. Remember if you are going there to eat or have a drink, to wear a hi-vis whilst walking in the port area. Take your boarding pass and some identity with you as you will be going through the security gate. They will then give you a gate pass, so that you can get out of the car waiting area through the electronic gate to the bar.
If you want to pass some time,the beach is not far to walk,there is a casino and shops.
The Pegasus bridge is by the river,the original bridge,with bullet holes, the last time i saw it, it was in Norbert Dentressangles yard.
Cafe by the new bridge,Caen is about 6miles from the port of Ouistreham,where you dock.
I used to walk or bike it, on the path by the river.
Buses from Ouistreham to Caen, on a Sunday, may be limited.
Plenty of places to eat outside the port.
Or take a bike.
Check your booking.

The Brittany site shows the Normandie Express on the 08-30 Sun slot.
As said normally already park inside the port, and leave at 22hr.

Just gone to their site Franglais like you and as you say the High Speed craft is doing the run to replace the MSM.
Don’t think trucks go on that, do they?

As Diesel said,Ouistreham was a good place to stop .
No barriers to the dock,spent many times waiting for an unaccompanied trailer to be sent over,weekend there,and weekdays too.
When we left on our ‘Thelma and Louise’ trip at the beginning of September, we shipped out to Ouistreham. We hadn’t been this way privately or work wise for over 4 years and as we came off the boat, we could have cried! The great unwashed scum laying on the grass wrapped in blankets (no doubt donated by the idiots in the UK) and as it was a Sunday afternoon and one of the last boats back for the ankle biters before returning to school, there was a big jam to get into the port. Each truck sat in the jam waiting to get into the port had a ‘police ■■■■■■’. That little wine cave just before the lights was doing no business as there must have been at least 20 ‘poor souls’ standing around there. Who is going to stop and shop there when you don’t know if they are going to cause you a problem? My wife was more upset as she said she has lovely memories of Ouistreham and it was sad to see it in such a state.
id think the off sales bod would have been slitting his financial wrists by now.
it was dead handy to stock up and easy to abandon the truck when your overly early with time to kill for a dander round the stores.
even the locals must avoid the place now to save close contact,and theres no way even if you were daft enough to stop nowadays that you would contemplate leaving the truck unnatended.
bit of a shame really,though its still not the war zone that calais is.
its just slowly but surely heading in that direction,though they have only the french goverment to blame for leaving their borders open.
