Probably silly question but why do certain countries have a sunday ban on trucks? Not all countries do it, Belguim and Holland don’t bother and neither did Denmark in 1997 when I was last there, or Greece in 2001. Just curious.
Maybe religious reasons? Day of rest and that… like 20 yrs ago no shop was open on a Sunday in the UK now there all open!! but with restricted hours… even though I’ve not long heard on the radio the government wants to relax the Sunday business times to allow shops to be open all day

That more or less covers it, as far as I know.
It’s the same with the holiday bans, 99% of those are religious holidays.
In theory, it’s so a truck driver also gets the holiday for quality family time. Just the same as everyone else.
In practice, depending on the company you work for, you could spend most of the day in bed so you can do a shift starting at midnight when the ban lifts.
