The only time I operate the sun roof is to close it if someone left it open.I find having the sun roof open to be very noisy and not much ventilation.
I just wondered ,does anyone use them.
Do you use yours?
Used to in the old days pre air con.
I leave it open overnight to let air circulate around cab if night heater is on, if I don’t, I wake up with something akin to a hangover as the night heater takes all the moisture out of the air.
In summer I leave it open when parked up if I go out in evening
I did that once in the Vos Topliner in my avatar , the bed over the steering wheel is directly below it, it had ■■■■■■ it down , and wgen I git back to truck, my bed was soaked, … I learned a lesson that night.
Yeah ^^^^ the rain soaked your bed after a night out! That’s your story and you’re sticking to it.
On my 18 plate the roof spolier started at the front of the cab so I used to leave mine open every night because I love fresh air in the cab. My new one has the air kit behind the sunroof so I never leave it open at night because of the reasons RR said above.
I pretty much agree with the posts above.
Roof vent open for fresh air circulation, day and night. Better to get more fresh in than just re-circ what is already there, you`ve got to let some out to get more in.
On those where the roof spoiler covers the vent, no rain gets in, but it seems the spoiler reflects more noise into the cab.

It’s less than the window open, so yes I do in the summer.
Hate them on trucks, they just make a noise on the move although they might have more use as ventilation when parked up.

On our Actroses, the sunroof only opens about half way, on a single push of the button.
Open that much, it’s very quiet.
If you want it open more, press the button again, but then it gets noisy.
If you want it open less, press close and then hit the button again.
Same as with your side windows (full wind up or down on automatic).
I have mine open almost all the time, quiet because tanker is reasonable distance back and doesn’t really reflect the noise, it has to be some serious rain before any drops make their way inside whilst driving.
Open mine for ventilation when cooking with gas stove
Yup like most.
When I did nights out, always had the roof open at night so it didn’t become too stuffy with the heater on. I was always lucky enough to have a truck where the roof was under the spoiler, so no rain got in, just like what Franglais said above.
Ken.
Not a problem when you’ve one of these
I miss them in my cars , always used the one in 2.3 ghia cortina , capri 2.0s , primera gt , cavalier etc , mrs does as well , I guess it’s a age thing , never had a/c years ago , or not in the cars I had , can’t remember first car I had with a/c , may of been mondeo ghia , nope can’t remember
