London bus strikes: Abellio drivers accept pay rise
A long-running dispute involving more than 1,800 bus drivers in London has come to an end after workers accepted a “richly deserved” pay offer.
Members of Unite employed by Abellio have staged a series of walkouts in recent months, disrupting journeys in south and west London.
Unite said an offer had been accepted that would see drivers with over two years’ service being paid £18 an hour.
Abellio London said it was “delighted” the offer had been accepted.

Don’t know about anyone else but i wouldn’t be voting for that & it’s unlikely to help recruit new drivers knowing you’d be earning 18% less than your colleagues.

They’ll still get around it because the vast majority of new drivers will have provided training, the licence, the cpc etc up front.
So you earn a bit less but you’ve not had to lay anything out personally to get your licences and in a couple of years you’ll get a nice uplift. The bus industry works very differently to HGV.

You don’t put a penny to be a bus driver. Medicals, theory’s and tests are all paid for. You get a training wage about 10 an hour during training. When you pass you join the crew. Some companies then deduct a few pounds a week for 2 years. If you stay past the 2years you get the money back as a lump sum.
£18 an hour is chump change for driving around London.
I multi-dropped around Park Royal and Heathrow the other day for the first time in 6 months and forgot how mentally exhausting it is. Even the extra money we get for it I only do it if I was a last resort.
Not only that a decent 3-4 bed house is going to cost you a million quid which £18 an hour is not going to make a dent in.

Yeah the jobs so ■■■■ they have to pay for people’s training. Why don’t they create a better job? Perhaps they could start with not dictating when you take your holidays, that would be a good start.
Anyway regardless of training costs my original point was about them creating a 2 tier pay system. It’s not fair at all, if people are doing the same job they should get the same pay.
just like equal pay between the sexes…

Maybe they should donate half of their pay-rise to people that deserve it !!!
THE WORKERS IN THE " N H S "
Just saying !
You mean like bus drivers, who get the NHS workers to work…
Bus driving in London isn’t half as bad as you lot whine about….
Bus driving is and like truck driving is only stressful if you allow it … robroy, mentions all the time how some drivers fly around like a crazy person, where as he makes it a chilled experience.
Some routes are really cool to drive around London, city routes, it’s like a tourist sightseeing tour everyday, can’t beat it.
