probably not worth the agro going though them, but if you are just delivering to the site and that has nothing to do with breaking the strike and you talk to the pickets you will probably find they they will be ok, if they don’t agree turn away, for your saftey and theirs
i wouldn’t cross a picket line, and anyone that does is ■■■■■■■ on there own doorstep.

judging by your past posts i cant work out if you would or wouldnt pass the line
so everyone that works in oil refienerys wont go past them■■? you will find they will, as the peeps i deliver to have already stated they will work.
there’s always a fine line.

actually whilst on the 2000 fuel protests in jarrow the tanker drivers did i repeat did refuse to cross our picket line
If I was just collecting for raymonds for their own supplies then yes as its keeping me in a job and to me keeping the pay rolling in is the most important to keep a roof over my families heads, but if i was to deliver to forecourts then hell no, no matter how much its gonna cause a pain in the arse i believe the tanker drivers and any driver in general has a right to a safe working environment.

come on get real how many of us get 45 grand plus!!!
geoskinn If the strike was over pay then I would agree but I think this is over safety concerns.

Maybe not but the real question is what would most workers’ terms and conditions be now if no one had ever bothered to join a union and if there’d never been any strikes to defend or improve wages and conditions over the years.
lets face it anyone can start moaning about getting on the bed of a lorry without guard rails etc… thats saftey issues etc working at hights etc…
but most people just get on with it, at the end of the day, if you dont do anything stupid you wont get hurt…
people are still getting hit in yards by reversing trls despite the hi vis been worn… if you have sence you dont walk behind trls moving etc…

if that’s after tax, then no. but if that’s before tax, then we are somewhere near.
but i probably work much more than them to get it.
I wouldn’t go in and drive their trucks on agency, but I would drive for another firm doing their job if that makes sense??
Also, deliveries or collections to the refineries would just be done.
I see it as they are striking from their firm who run the tractor units, so that’s the only objectionable course of action is to dive in their own trucks and do the job.

myself and my colleagues don’t even get close to that!!!
ah right my bad, only heard safety concerns on the news.
Is this crossing a picket line to deliver to the refinery? Or is it crossing the picket line to do their jobs? (i.e. with a tanker.)
I almost certainly would cross the line to delver to the refinery if that was what my boss was paying me to do. I almost certainly would NOT cross the line to do their jobs!
But then I almost certainly would NOT have voted to go on strike if I was doing that job, and was a member of Unite.
