Strange sounding names

what about the famous place in austria that begins with f ends in k and has a u and a c in the middle. locals keep complaining that british tourists keep nicking the signs for the village :laughing: :laughing:

I’ve been to Hell (and back) in Norway, and just up the road from here is a hamlet called Ars. The local council gets tired of removing the intrusive ‘e’.

And on the subject of New York, Lincs, wasn’t there a transport company based there? Morris? Blue wagons?

Yes they are just down the road from where we live and we see them all over when travelling up to Immingham and beyond.

i always find “oswaldthwistle” funny and grotton in saddleworth (real pretty ) sounds awful.
ogmoor by sea in south wales is gorgeous cept for the name.
