Stralis issue with digitach?

my actros went in for an MOT 2 weeks ago and i was given a stralis as replacement. on return to base my card was downloaded and came up with an infringement of going over my 15 hours. which i had not! the infringement showed i went over at 20.30 that day which had not come yet. this was around quarter to 8 that night
the following week i picked up a rigid (double manned in the stralis so i was dropped off on the way back) and an overlap of 45 minutes showed up. the following day i got pulled up for driving over my 45 minutes even though i knew i had deliberately handed control over to allow over 45 minutes POA (counts as a break as a crew member) so i disputed it and mentioned the known issue. the following day i took a print out and it showed that i had taken 58 minutes POA before changing vehicle, then a query, then i had driven during that same period which exonerated me.
on monday i was on my way back from my night out and was asked to collect my own truck. i reminded them about last weeks infringement and was told to take a printout. yet again, another overlap so i took a printout in defence.

we have another stralis and i somehow got lumbered with it today. it has the same problem (hired from the same place) but my actros doesnt and neither does any vehicle in the fleet or the 2 XFs that are hired from a different company. every other truck is recording in british winter time but the stralis that i did have and that we still have are both recording in british summer time. is this a common fault with the stralis or coincidence that 2 of them are set incorrectly?

It’s a VDO (siemens) tacho in the Stralis, the same as the DAF and the Merc.

Hope that answers your question

the fleet vehicles are all volvo fms. it is only the 2 stralises (one of which is now thankfully gone) that are causing issues. i did note today that it would have recorded another infringement tonight. i had that thing today and i hope that the â– â– â– â–  ups that occured last night will not be repeated which means i will have my own truck tomorrow. my truck will record a 3am start as i have a 4am real time start. had i required a 9 hour rest period then the stralis would have recorded a 7pm finish. that would mean 9 hours off in real time but my card would have only shown 8 hours :imp:

All tachos should record in UTC (Universal Time Co-ordinate) it’s the same as GMT, however some get wrongly set at BST when calibrated. If it’s set at BST (this is not local time I’m on about) then defect it as being more than 20 minutes out is fineable. A workshop should be able to sort it in less than 5 minutes, although technically they should do a full calibration.

all tachos should record in UTC times, it should not matter whether it is winter or summer or what the local time in the country that you happen to be in, you can alter the display to show local time but tacho should still record in utc time. the utc time can be altered upto a max of 20 mins but only in small daily increment(think its either one or two mins per day) if its more than 20 mins out only a tacho calib centre can correct it.

I know when we hire a vehicle we were told to first log it on to the system with a company card before inserting our own personal card, don’t know if thats a company requirement or a legal one ?

BST denotes british summer time, it is only local to britain during the summer then the local time in britain changes to british winter time but again this is only local to britain

i have told them that its defective as it is not set to UTC and a workshop job but we are talking about people who wont even supply a bulb as its a hired unit. they are very strict on infringements and the only ones against me are all false infringements due to this incorrect internal clock issue. its not a major issue for the guy who drives it as he drives it all the time so it only really becomes a potential problem when using it for a day or part of a day. he only noticed it when i complained about the stralis i had for 2 weeks which was how i found out that his stralis suffered from the same issue. i only had it today due to some major â– â– â– â–  ups. my truck was already out. he was checking over a volvo and informed me that i had his truck. the guy in the office who did the planning yesterday didnt know who was driving what as it had changed overnight for some unknown reason :unamused:

if you think its set at the wrong time just do a printout, any will do, driver card or truck, see what time it says the print was done and look at your watch and see what bloody time it is. if you require any further help i strongly suggest the frigging samaritans
